Agree. Dont like that we are giving away a pick that can become so important when it comes to getting a spider on the second night of the draft.

Could well be planning to use the other bits and bobs we pick up in the deal to better 24

Tracc for Pick 7 and Bailey Humphrey woukd be a very good deal.

Tracc for Picks 7 & 8 is a solid deal.

Tracc + Pick 24 for Picks 7 & 8 is a bit underwhelming tbh.

Only at MFC would the media and another club get to dictate the terms of a trade for our contracted player.

Why is this endlessly talked about as picks in this year. Why can't we ask for pick 7 and the first rounder for next year? Might work out to be better?

Looking forward to Langford changing jumper number to number 5 and receiving it from Brock McLean.

We wanted him gone. King thought we could rescue it. Trac let him know that he was out out. Not mucking around. Every club knew. GC leveraged that.

Apparently over the weekend it was at all time high levels of tension.

Back on the subject of jumper numbers; some pretty famous numbers are now vacant: 5, 9, 13 & 14

If we draft some crazy, we should give him 14 in honour of Rod Grinter.

Sorry but I don't want Brock any where near the club ever again.

The Trac people were very stressed…

That was our leverage right there. Telling him he's coming back unless he can convince GCS he's worth swapping for BH.

Because Gold Coast's first rounder next year will be around pick 15-20.

30yo Trac for 2 high draft picks is a fair/good deal. We get millions off our salary cap

Couldn't give a rats about pick 24 which will become 32 in a weak draft

The media are not dictating anything. Trac's team are leaking what is happening to Tom Morris and he is tweeting it

You actually think Morris is influencing the deal in any way?

And pick 7 and 8 this year will be pick 11 and 12 after academy and father sons and this years pick 12 is likely worse talent wise than picking 15-20 next year

GC aren’t guaranteed to improve next year

We are and were never going to get Humphrey unless one of the following occurred:

  1. GC believed we would take Trac back, and therefore had to cave before we did

  2. GC value picks 7 and/or 8 higher than Humphrey and therefore would prefer to trade Humphrey and keep the picks

Point 2 would never occur given GC’s position needing points for the academy players.

So long as GC believe we won’t take Trac back, they’d never trade Humphrey. They will still get Trac and then, if need be, will trade Humphrey next year for additional picks (worth more to them in a stronger draft) or players.

They finish top 4 next year, as they should with their list, and it's a pick in the 20's.

Even in a shallow draft you're taking 11 or 12 over one in the 20's every day of the week.

Riley Beveridge saying its looking like Petracca, Pick 24 and Pick 28 for pick 7 & 8 and a bunch of Pick swaps.

Boy oh boy.. both picks in the 20's thrown in now?

I reckon we're going to get their future first as well Dazzle. I've got a feeling it'll essentially be Trac and a bunch of picks for 7, 8 and their future 1 which is probably a late first rounder next year.

But it means the MFC can sell it as a really strong draft result 8 first rounders in 4 years and all that.

That's my guess

Noooooo! Surely not.

Could be worse

We could support the Blues or Bombers who lose their best player and have no youth coming through

Offload the oldies on big money and hit the draft before Tassie raid it

You'd hope so, cos they have at present - 7, 8, 15, 18, 29, 36, 37, 52, 74, 92, 110

This would leave them with 15, 18, 24, 28, 29 - this year.

My complete guesswork prediction

Melb give: Petracca, 24, 28, 42, 2027 3rd round pick

GCS give: 7, 8, 36, 2026 first round, 2027 second round

I was being facetious. Anywhoooo, onwards and upwards.

Nah Blues have enough young talent coming through. They still have Jagga Smith coming on next year who is an absolute jet, Harry Dean in this year's draft who i have watched come through the Murray Busgrangers and then Cody Walker next year who could have easily been a top 3 prospect in this year's draft. Walker is Will Ashcroft/Nick Daicos in terms of being immensely talented.

They'll be fine.

They can have both if we get value out of the swaps.

They have 29, 36, 37, Essendon’s future 3rd and all their future 2026 and 2027 picks.

Swapping 28 for 29 is just a few free points for them given that pick will be consumed by bid matches, so that’s an easy option.

Otherwise target Suns F2 or Essendon F3 which might be worth more than 28 (or even 24) in this draft. Both of those would be ideal.
