I knew Clarry didn't like Collingwood!

Even so, he likes them more than Melbourne...

🤔 so what does a Giants deal look like ?

This is a very sad day for this footy club. Losing a 4 time BNF Winner and possibly the best player I have ever seen play with the Demons.

The Demons handing over a duffle bag of cash every year to watch Clarry play finals while we watch from the stands.

i'd expect a rubbish pick then a drawn out arm wrestle on how much salary we pay

hopefully quite a bit less than half

I feel your pain deeminion.

But clarry was a powerhouse star but times change and I got sick of dump kicks in an era now when precision is everything.

Even now though I marvel each week being privileged to watch big Max. My best in this century

Flower best of all time. Saw his entire career.

Chin up. I think culture change big time is on the way. Clarry leaving helps with that

I feel like of all our players Oliver should be afforded the benefit of the doubt with our new coach and system, yes he has his demons but do the right thing by him please he sounds like he's been trying his butt off to do the right thing by us for a while now and he seems really invested.

Not everyone is the same, nor smooth sailing, but someone like him deserves a go to prove himself again after what he's given. Yes pay is an issue, but give the guy a go under the new regime don't just sweep him off. Seems more than a tad insensitive by the MFC.

Agree with you Young Angus. Does seem unfair in just ignoring Clarry and not even giving himself a chance of staying his case. He had steady committed to the Dees for the season 2026, about a month ago.

Much More than Trac who had Not spoken a word about his plans/ commitments for 2026.

After all I M O along with GawnyJV Trac and Maysie all perhaps deserved a little latitude no matter how strong King wanted to start from.

These players have been the very best of of the 21 st century all together but have one thing over ALL the Lyons Flower Stynes Schwartz and Neitz that they are Avery rare bree. The BEST that WON the very BEST.

That is part of the 151 exclusive heroes we have in our 13 premiership teams. We have FOUR coaches and probably some other support staff as well.

Is this the culture we want to display no matter how ruthless we want to be in resting and reshaping our next era for success? I am not sure.

No doubt it will be the proof of the eating of the pudding ie how short or long it takes us to make Finals again and be a serious contender consistently. We all have a varied opinions or Expectations on that.

As usual death by 10 years from the most pessimistic and negative D/L Anders plus others are convinced we are not as far away as two successive 14ths and are a mere bagatelle to rise and conquer the pretenders above us easily to threaten the heavyweights and flag winners.

All will be revealed over the next pre season and 2026 year.

As I said elsewhere I secretively don’t mind if Trac or Clarry are still on our list and take the chance that 2025 was like say 2020 the calm before the storm ie 2021 .

It is interesting and totally unpredictable to ponder but let’s support the Club whatever happens. We cannot afford not to!!!

I REALLY DO FEEL ILL!

Despite any and all divisions as to our views upon this... as goes our disposition.... yeah feels like a kick in the guts. And if I'm feeling that I can't even begin to think how those Dees players who gave him the benefit of doubts as well as time, effort and compassionate empathy must feel.

Sucks big time

Pretty big.

Dill:

We should start by acknowledging Collingwood. They put in a great effort and often come second in trade discussions

It may feel terrible losing club champions like Oliver and Trac, but at least they're going to interstate clubs that haven't tasted a Premiership. I wish them both well, as they have brought all of us so much joy in the past. Right now it hurts, but hopefully in time they will be welcomed back to the club after their careers have finished.

What are the Giants facils, sorry facults, silities like?

Very similar to Trac actually the way he wanted to leave the year before!

Yes, he also wanted change in that case the board and specifically the president of the club.

It was the right thing to do though. He probably saved the club from becoming a private company.

Fly with a cheap shot on Clarry ‘being difficult to get a hold of’ because “he must be having a good time in Sydney”.

Everyone is aware of Clarry’s past, a ‘no comment’ would have been more appropriate from someone of his experience and stature.

Fly is quickly spiralling from ‘industry darling’ to ‘bitter oddball’.

Ohhh Cheeky Fly

What a [censored]

I know he’s a struggler off the field (and been struggling on the field), but if we lose him to a rubbish pick and pay part of his salary, we’re munted.

Didn't really want to loose Clarry, but feel with his words in recent days, restarting with a clean slate is no longer feasible. Haven't really followed or bought into any of the rumours surrounding him, but feel he's just letting his personality all hang out now in the worst way possible. There's being honest, then there's being disrespectful to those that were once close to you.

I actually liked that he told whatever reporters it was where to go at the airport. Think he was within his rights to tell them to get out of his face. But the way he's spoken about the MFC in recent days in public has lost my respect for where he's at.

Still loosing him to Collingwood would have made my blood boil and absolutely hate the bloke (not entirely rationally, but that how it is). If he plays foe GWS, it will still leave a bad taste, but definitely more tolerable than the alternative.

If (READ: IF) it does eventuate to that, then that’s really not a glowing endorsement of Clarry and what the club thinks of him. Effectively paying him to leave at that point.

Can confirm that our salary contribution for Clarry won’t be nearly as much as has been speculated.

We’re not going to get much in the way of picks. But it’s not the “double whammy” that’s been reported.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
