FWIW Sammy Edmund just said Bailey will keep trying until the end of the window (still highly unlikely).

He might want to try, at least leaking via his manager he wants out.

Speaking of delusion, the club that does it best - Essendon - is shutting down the Merrett trade (or so they say). Time to tell Trac it ain't happening and get him back to Casey for a chat and talk through his positional role changes for 2026 😜 see if GC blinks.

After all the years he spent at Melbourne picking duds as our recruiting manager he is still trying to screw us

If this is any chance at all then we need to get it done before Carlton deals Curnow as they are also heavily into Humphrey

I think the club would hope with the fresh start, new coach, new standards, more attacking play style etc that Trac would buy in and produce his best again.

Sure, if we keep him.

But that wasn't my point.

My question was what would it say if they are offered a poor deal and choose to take it rather than keeping tracc?

Either he was worse than we know or they are nonces… or both.

To be fair, when you and i spoke earlier this week I mentioned I had been told Dimma had softened.

This was reported last week by Tom Morris

The funny thing about all this:

Suns could easily end up with picks 7, 8 and Petracca. Which, despite trajectory possibilities for Humphrey, is a huge win for them.

Taking the red and blue goggles off, it's bizarre they don't do a straight swap Humphrey for Petracca - they are closer to a flag and they still build for future.

You've really let us down @cac1963

THey may just rate Humphrey that highly looks like we do. Would you easily give up a Trac or Clarry in 2019 for an aging star?

7 & 8 are no good to them come draft night as they'd just get swallowed up by their academy players.

Oh poor Gold Coast, getting two more top 10 quality players to add to their list of guns they've received free of charge

Try and swap them with Rich or west coast and get a player before their academy players get bid on.

They will have 2x picks inside the top 5 this year and an academy that will continue to get them looks at the pointy end of the draft in years to come.

They genuinely don’t need picks 7 and 8 this year.

If they somehow ended up with 7/8 tomorrow (which they won’t) they are a moral to try and get a player (eg de Goey) or trade them out for future picks.

The kids won't let me listen to Trade Radio in the car so I must have missed it. Why is it that the Trade Radio account on Twitter post the most inane content about trades but didn't include this nugget that has a big impact on the Trac trade? I'm starting to think @Very Jaded is right and there is a conspiracy by the AFL against us.

Feeds straight into my MFCSS.

I wouldn’t mind something like this

Dees out: petracca, Oliver, mcvee 26 1st pick

Dees get: Humphrey picks 7&8

Suns lose Humphrey picks 7&8

Suns get petracca pick 12 and 26 1st pick

Giants lose pick 12

Giants get Oliver and pick 24

Would rather not get both 7&8 this year and keep next years first. Will probably be a better draft and a better draft pick

Have to make it worth while to GC though. This would be a huge result for us.

Don't say that too loudly you might get shot down for it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
