Sorry all. Been in boardroom meeting for work (New CEO).

Just looked at my phone and I got a message saying "its getting very heated at the moment" and someone he has referred to as a complete Wack Job. Not sure who that refers to though.

For those that think this is done better prepare for their opinion to change. There is life still in this deal. Whether or not it happens is anyones guess now.

My response was, So are we getting nearer to BH coming on board?

Answer: Their are signs but nothing definitive

BTW Bailey has pushed his case extremely hard so for those that think he isnt trying are delusional.

Appreciate the update. we all know (well some us) that what is true today doesnt mean it will turn out the way we want it to. Fingers crossed though.

Love Jennifer….. even when she’s saying ‘ ok good job’ in that manner.

Not sure why you get so worked up by these updates. Real or not.

Blocked arteries or is that a Fun Dooo

I was just thinking, all this disgruntlement at Cameron not 'playing ball' with BH, in part it's because BH has not come out and forced his hand a little more (yet), but really the other issue is GC, and Cameron for that matter, are doing exactly what you would expect with a contracted player - saying unequivocally that he is off the table. It's something you would hope and expect from our group. I mean, Trac saying he wanted to look elsewhere - we didn't need to entertain that. He signed a long-term contract. The contract he signed protects him AND us. Gives us the power in negotiations. As GC does with BH. We can just say no, and Trac continues to cook here in Melbourne. Tough, it's a lesson in thinking long and hard before you sign a contract. So, I don't know why we are perceived (by media nuff nuffs, yeah ok) as having to accept some deal that is not going to help us. Like we have the weaker hand when we are both dealing in a long-term contracted player.

My take is there should not be a deal for Trac unless it involves BH. Because we can actually build around BH - there is some future there, perhaps an immediate one, and GC need the marque player because they are in a premiership window. Without BH we are trading for speculative talent which will take years to come to fruition = years in the doldrums. Again.

With the above in mind, and with some blind faith here, if it transpires that we trade Trac for 7 + 8 (less some other pick, which is nuts), then I presume the club has a plan, not wanting to thrust us in a situation where our midfield will get smoked every single week.

Are you sure he said 'whack job', and not 'cac job'?

If Trac chose Adelaide then we would be getting pick 14 and 16. Who cares if GC are going to use them, we are getting 2 top 10 picks

  1. Your Adelaide hypothetical :- getting picks 14 and 16. We wouldn’t be “getting them” if we said NO.

  2. GC, “who cares”.

Why should we line the pockets of any competitor?

You new here?

If there is any chance of this happening, you can bet it will be held until 5 mins before cutoff for maximum theatre.

I think the club are more focused on getting the best deal for MFC and don't give a rats otherwise which is how it should be. Fans can worry about others clubs and the optics of 'winning' a trade

Gold Coast are interested in Jordan De Goey. Gold Coast also open to trading pick 15. Does De Goey open the door for Humphrey to leave???

Got mentioned on Fox Footy’s Trade show last night that De Goey was of interest and the pies are interested in trading if the deal is right. Sam Edmund mentioned De Goey this morning and Mentioned the suns and saints as teams interested

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
