Go Brisbane today. You have no idea what beating Collingwood will do for our city today.

We can't go through a week of hearing about Collingwood in a gf, let alone if they actually win it.

You have 1 job. Make the pies fans & players miserable today

I have put money on Collingwood to win and I REALLY hope I lose that money.

None the wiser 😭

Can't share in the Geelong hate. As a young uni grad my work took me to Geelong and when I wasn't back in Melbourne on a weekend at Princes Park or the MCG I sometimes wandered over to Kardinia Park (could see it from my balcony) to catch games. Liked the Town and the people, lived there for several years.

Sure they aren't the loveable team from that era but would always cheer for them over the likes of the arrogant Hawks or the filthy Pies!

Not too dark on them being a recipient of stadium grant largesse, I see it as giving sonething back to regional Victoria as so much is centralised in Melbourne.

They are however most definitely breaching the salary cap, am certain of it so if they meet the Lions, hope Brisvegas knock them off in the GF 😁

Yes it’s for the greater good.

Brisbane: if you ever dreamed of being a superhero, here’s your chance. Collingwood winning another premiership is a crime against humanity. You can end their hopes tonight, on a wing and a prayer…

Cut to us all ugly-crying tonight when Brisbane [censored] the bed 😅

How long until someone in the media (ie - Cats supporters in Whateley, Clark etc..) campaign for the grand final to be pushed back until 4 October so Stewart can play?

With respect to Hawthorn, they’d be genuinely disappointed in conceding 16 goals in 3 qtrs of a final given they opened the cheque book for Battle and Barrass to address their defence for their 2025 finals campaign.

Don't know about that Ghostie.

I don't think Coll. Has a chance in hell of beating Geelong, so to done in the granny surely will hurt more.

Yep, to see them lose yet another granny would be delightful but that’s a risk I personally am not willing to take 😅 I’d rather know tonight that there’s no hope of them winning the Flag. And imagine the week leading up to the granny, should they win tonight… geez Louise, it would be insufferable to say the least 🤮

Has anyone explained the logic of a 5:15pm start?

No real problem with it but I'm trying to work out why not 4:30 or 6pm for example

I'd like to see them lose by a point after the siren with a controversial free kick.

I’m focusing on the positives

Great to see the hawks lose and their smug fans streaming out of the G in the last quarter.

Not only their smug fans, the players are faux tough and pushing and shoving oppo players, getting in their faces. Bck to the old unsociable hawks

And while we're at it anyone keeping count of how many players Mabior Chol has maimed on the field? Its almost like he deliberately goes out of his way to hurt players....

Might be to do with the Lions getting home to Brisbane tonight so as not to disadvantage them if they were to make a Granny

Oh god no… why did you say that out loud??? What have you done???

Obviously it goes without saying i want to see the pies absolutely smashed today (and Maynard hip and shouldered into next century).

That also means watching zorko be happy.

This season sucks.

Late enough to get better ratings.

Early enough to get the Lions home.

That would be the logical assumption for a 5:15 start.

Could this be the next GF timeslot when they’re done with 2:30??

Nailed it Ghosty. Handed multiple freebees over a generation.

Yep like the Freebe we were offered at The Lexus centre years ago which we REFUSED, Eddie stepped in annd you know the rest... Geelong have great facilities and success has come from prudent management. We have been a basket case in so many areas for a long period of time and this extends for all but a few years in the last 50! Wake up, Ghosty is not correct in this instance... and nor are you!

What was the Lexus centre thing we refused??

Now, @No. 31, despite being a diehard Carlton fan, you’ve been magnanimously accepted by us coz you seem to be a nice person. But… methinks you’re pushing the boundaries here 🤨

I thought about that. It would be an 11pm flight so most players wouldn't be home much shy of 2am.

Why not 3:40pm if that was the driver.

My conspiracy mind says it's trial run for the infamous "twilight GF".

You’re the one who needs to wake up, Fence. How do you explain Geelong’s ability to draft in all the big names without breaching the salary cap? And that’s just for starters.

I’m quite sure we’d have way more success if we were given a leg-up in almost every respect.

But 5:15 means that families with kids have to squeeze dinner into half-time (not to mention preparing it). Only the upper classes eat well after 8pm and toddlers before 5pm.

The AFL confirmed its so the Lions players if successful tonight can fly home to sleep in their own beds, rather than hang around Melb for another day.

Makes sense and is fair to them. Especially if it helps prime them to beat the Stewart-less Cats next weeks.

Prudent management? Thats easy when you have a huge debt that alledgedly Frank Costa 'negotiated' with their bank away for cents in the dollar

Agree Ghostwriter.

Try living in Geelong as a non-Geelong fan. Its no fun whatsoever.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
