State of Origin is Back

No MFC injuries = a brilliant spectacle

10/10 would recommend.

Found myself cheering on WA. Not sure why, maybe seeing Daicos and Smith v Kozzi and Rivers.

Great to see some footy! Origin worked for me. they went in, played hard. was a good watch

I was very cynical but this has been a far better game than I expected.

High standard game but for the spectators, are we passionate about the format? About winning?

A lot rests with the under 35's. If they love it, there's a chance it can work long term

Will be interested to see the TV & Streaming numbers. At a guess, I reckon the numbers will be very good

But long term, Gonzo?

posters worries about injuries always make intrigue me

you have just as much chance at training. ask poor Tom Green

Rivers with 24 disposals. He looked pedestrian early but has worked his way into the game.

Gawny looked like he was going through the motions.

Kozzie looked electric but never seemed to get any reward.

I too was barracking for WA and I have never even step foot in that state before.

Same here and thought the same too. I think it was the underdog syndrome

Daicos robbed?

I think it's pretty well established that Gawn works best as a solo act and not part of an ensemble.

Not overly surprised to see him down on his usual form.

He always takes some time to get up and running. I thought he was serviceable after getting smashed by Cameron early

Soccer has it's Charity Shield's as does Rugby League (Rabbitohs & Dragons played tonight)

The NFL has it's Hall of Fame game as well in the pre-season

So as a season opener per se, I reckon it can work but WA deserve to host the game (or a game) next year and beyond

Need to get S.A involved somehow but that's the tricky bit

It was a fair-dinkum match played at a high standard so that box was ticked. Needs the support of the viewing public, both short term and long term

Seeing the 3 present MFC'ers plus 3 ex (Jackson, Hogan, Bedford) ... that would have been a team!

Which is why the Grundy experiment failed, but it was NOT Grundy's fault at all,!!

Rapt our boys got through.

Feel for weitering. That looked nasty.

But was it just me, or did it feel like that game seem to go forever? I know weiterings injury extended the first quarter, but it did feel like the game dragged on.

I enjoyed it though

Most of his possessions were from frees.

Daicos did not want to get hit tonight and it showed, just shuns contact at all cost!

Daicos is not an in and under type but he dominated the game tonight. Doesn't waste a possession and got it 38 times tonight

The bloke is a star

If the players play like they care and the supporters turn up it will be ok, especially as a preseason hit out. Needs to be WA or SA hosting Vic though, a game at the G might get a decent crowd as a one off but ongoing the supporters would drop off like they did in the 90s. The players will feed off the crowd if there's a packed Optus stadium or Adelaide Oval.
