Id be disappointed... but wouldn't blame the bloke. His job is to coach not to poach.

The news about Oliver this morning being told of ‘a new role he may not like’ must be linked to our pursuit of Flanders.

Separate story emerging that ‘it is about the role, not the money for Ned’ too closely aligned to our ‘snap meeting’ with Clayton

Yuck

How hard is it to tell a bloke he’ll be playing midfield

Don’t care what St Kilda have to offer, they’ll always be a bottom 8 side, even with all these picks. No one in the history of this game has thought, [censored], we are playing St Kilda, that’ll be a tough one.

We do when it's at Marvel. They've done a few good numbers on us down there lol

Would prefer Walters over another mid feilder.

Walter's would be useless if we still have a midfield that couldn't hit the ocean with a beach ball.

Is Flanders a better kick than Trac? Is he quicker than Trac? Can he play inside and outside? If the answer to these is yes, he would definitely improve our list.

Flanders in an Trac out would limit our s*** kicks in the midfield to Gawn, Oliver and Viney. And Flanders has 10 years ahead of him, he's not an old fart.images(17).jpg.d8d7f6e8715cc4b9811d0747f39eed0b.jpg

Maybe. But they’re still irrelevant in the AFL and I can’t see it changing.

Max channeling Methuselah in search of that elusive premiership at the 'G?

If we ship off Clarry and Trac, then miss out on bringing in a good young established midfielder in Flanders, we may as well fold. What a disaster this has turned into.

If Flanders wants midfield time, he'll get it with us guaranteed!

Budderick or similar has chosen to move to WBD from the Suns.

Hopefully Flanders nominates us shortly. Seems to always have a flow on after one says something.

But r we getting Flanders or is that still to be decided?

If we r not getting him then why advise Oliver prior to knowing.

It's hard to imagine all the drama around Trac and Oliver helps our chances with Flanders aside from that we definitely have a spot in the midfield for him.

Name one player with multiple suitors who is looking at our club and going… “hmmm think I’ll go there, looks interesting”

Full on expecting (guessing) Flanders to announce St Kilda as his club of choice tomorrow, to cap off a fabulous week.

Yep, i think that's going to happen as well. I hope the club has one more swing at it though, i'd rather pay him slight overs than lose Trac, Clarry and May and not add anyone at all

stability is overrated…………we all know this

To be honest it’s going to be an interesting looking team with no McVee, Spargypants, Mayzie, Tracc & Clayton we may struggle to beat Wet Toast.🙄😬

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
