Watch St Kilda jump up the ladder next year with their aggressive recruitment.

Arguable upgrade in ruck, Jack Sivalgni, retain a player they already had. Might get Liam Ryan.

I am sorry what are we talking about here?

'Im telling you now. As it stands Windhager will not be at St KIlda next year and will be playing for the Melbourne Demons' [because his manager wants either another year or a bit more coin and he was never leaving'

Mind you imagine being coached by Lyon...

How far down the road were we in term of talking to him?

Months?

We couldn't add another couple of years and match the cash for a 22 year old?

We gave Viney 4 years as a 30 year old.

Why have we become so ch it at negotiating? at one point that was our strong suit.

The whole thing was BS from the start, his manager having a sook to Finey and getting something out there for the Aints to hear.

Ordinary way of going about it.

I believe effective might have been the word you could have used.

It appears that Windhager Jamie Elliott’d us.

Only solace is that given our history of players foot injury recoveries combined with his medical history, he would've become very close friends with Shane McAdam these past few seasons, or had no impact on field as we pushed him into the seniors with zero VFL time.

Windhager

brought to you by Gondorff & Hooker

The score... by Hamlisch

If Windhager does stay and Saints get TDK ($1.7M, Silvani (close to $1M), Ryan (nothing significant) and they just resigned Millera to $2M. There other 39 players must be playing for absolute peanuts.

Ryan will be about $700K-$800k, that is significant.

Wilkie on $800k has been offered more elsewhere and has asked Saints to match.

King on $1.2m.

Sinclair has to be $800k.

I am told Steele on about $1m.

Owens $800k.

Wood $600k-700k.

There are plenty of others on decent money.

They will have to offload players or the rest will be on $50k.

Ryan reportedly will be on (average) $1m per season over the life of the contract. Insane money for him.

What about getting Darcy Wilson. I dont know what the knock on this kid is but i do recall he fell out of favour with Lyon. From memory he was a great outside / wing player and was very quick.

Agree, spoke about this a few months ago on another thread, but he’d easily be my number one trade target as it stands. He’s outstanding.

Think the knock was he was an outside player with limited contest to his game, however from what I've seen he is deceptively tough for his size and goes when it's his turn so I don't think that's a problem for a player on the wing. We wouldn't be recruiting him to be an inside mid.

Windhager overseas and yet to sign with Saints. Cal says Melbourne and North still making plays for him. Expect to have more clarity over his intentions sometime next week.

Maybe St Kilda will need to trade King. 😉 I know he's struggled to get on the park, but he'd be handy.

Can’t see King being traded, but if it’s North or us for Windhager, with his close mate Heath coming to us, we would have to be a good chance.

lol the close mate thing always makes me laugh.

Also saw another article that because his 'close mate' Nasiah signed on, Windhager is more likely to sign on with Saints as well now.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
