Neita is a brilliant player and an inspirational captain, but a club president and a businessman he ain't.

If the players were so against Daniher leaving, then maybe they could have lead better, worked harder... you know, since apperantly injuries were no excuse for getting so badly beaten this year (so we've heard the players say)*.

I love Neita and I feel for him because the reality is, he's unlikely to walk away from the game with a flag.

But at the end of the day, having been there longer than anyone, he'd know very well that to move forward you sometimes have to make hard decisions.

There are positives and negatives in Daniher's early exist. A negative would the feelings of the players, a positive would be their ability to pay their respects and say a proper goodbye. Then of course there is the issue of the club having an extra 9 weeks to look for a new coach.

The positives far far outweigh the negatives, and Gardner is right, the situation would have become public sooner or later. Why lie when transparency is so much more dignified for all involved?!

*Note: I am NOT sticking the boot into Neita and our poor season is not his fault.

Neitz clearly gets it and what he says has absolute truth, I am glad Neitz has spoken out you cannot publicly say one thing and do another (unless you are a politician). If we are playing next week the season is NOT over. Good on you Neita standing up for what you believe in and for what many of us do. No Jaded Neitz isnt a business man but I trust his football opinion over Gardiners and this decision involves football not our finances

Correct on all accounts-its a tough world out there and decisions had to be made for the Betterment of the MFC-that's what Gardiner did

Plus I read this mornings paper that Danners reckons he would be good too and that he should put his hand up, and I would like Voss but in a couple of years. But as was just pointed out Voss might be our only reasonable choice

Look i sympathize with Nieta and ND, but 2 goals to Half time against Richmond was unacceptable. The Damage done for the rest of the year could have been disasterous. But from here the new dawn begins. I believe even ND will agree in time

Whist Neitz is entitled to his view he has no right to criticise the President the way he did on the radio today. If more of the players had shown more heart over the last 20 or so games the club played in, then this situation would not have happened. If Neitz wants to go public then let him apologise to ND on behalf of all the players for letting the coach, team management, members and all supporters down time and time again. I love Neita but he and all the players have to get on with performing the way they are paid to do!

Lets not be contradictory.The playing group are just as accountable for the performance of the club, as is the coach, president & boot studder. Neitz is a part of all of this. You are right Jaded, at the end of the day, excuses are simply that.

Gardner did bring forward his agenda. Whether it it is right or wrong will always be open for debate. As a member I'm all for that. But the fact that as club leaders, both Neitz & Gardner going to the press to express their views demonstrates another example of a lack of discipline when under pressure. For years, this has been the one constant in the clubs performance.

Most Melbourne supporters on this issue seem to be anti neitz and daniher whilst pro gardner.Whhat is going on.I know whos souls I'd punt on.

We need a biopsy for i fear our prez may be a cancer.i think i see signs of early detection.David Neitz is a strong powerful leader who has played under more duress than we can empathise.He has atleast earnt the right to comment when he sees unfairness afoot.

Yep, we finally have someone in charge who has the balls to make the tough calls, and now people are bitching and crying about it.

A few weeks ago nearly everyone was in favour of finding a new coach at the end of the season. Now they got their wish, and yet they still find reasons to be unhappy.

When a coach leaves a club after 10 years, it's never going to be a big sweet farewell. Feelings are bound to get hurt, and people are bound to be upset.

What has transpired over the last week has been handled with the utmost dignity and transparency, in order to avoid an ugly media circus. It was short and swift instead of nasty.

Daniher chose to not coach out the season, he was not forced into anything.

I really don't understand how anyone who wanted him gone, can be unhappy with this situation? Not only is he not the coach of the MFC anymore, we now also have an extra 9 weeks to find a replacement. This is probably the best outcome given the circumstances.

Neita and the rest of the players will get over it.

things to rmember .; Neeta is a participant in club sponsored events; i.e he is paid to perform. thats where his particpation starts and stops. If he want s to run for pres, and take on all the [censored] that goes with it he's more than welcome. I dont think that PG hs done a 100% perect job, but neither had DN !!

I just dont get your blanket approval of gardner.you keep justifying his position by inanely repeating the business of the game and how its a big boys league.I would imagine gardner and his lackies would have hoped plenty of time would be spent on figuring the best and most professional way to travel inter state for games.Its a business and all the i's need to be dotted.

Why then not spend time on transition.It was a [censored] up in immediacy .unprofessional.they wouldnt put neita in an economy seat to perth.why get the playing group odff side with the board when a more calculated plan would have been accepted.
