It was after yet another thumping dealt to us. It was during a particularly bleak time for us. He was pretending to be bored having just smashed us and while I’m sure it was quickly forgotten by most people, it remains a sore point to some Dees fans, especially those who were watching the broadcast live, ie. it doesn’t seem as bad now, it certainly was in that moment.

Kelly was a lot younger back then. I assume he’s matured a lot since.

I can’t stand anyone associated with Geelong, but results speak for themselves. If Kelly impresses more than the experienced Buckley, then he will be a worthy selection.

He is not the only player who showed our club no respect back then. We were a joke.

For one, I would hope that had we inflicted that level of pain onto Geelong that our players would walk taller/many of our supporters wouldn't blink if Gawn or Oliver did something like that in jest.

a lot of liniment sniffers are quick to dismiss the 22 dees that actually slept through these matches but hold a grudge on what an opposition player did 2 decades ago.

After a bit of googling it was apparently in mid 2010. They were in the middle of their dominant era smashing teams every single week. Seems pretty clearly a joke about getting bored singing the song so much. Nothing to do with us.

I think people should really not get so upset by something insignificant as that. Maybe the players should get upset by it as they were on the receiving end, but not people sitting on a couch who have no involvement. I would have laughed. It’s the ultimate troll move, it builds a bit of tension and anger between the teams which is always good for football.

No one will be satisfactory enough to coach us - that much is clear.

IF Buckley wants it?!

The one clear thing is that Buckley is interested, as he has applied for the job and was as keen as anyone I can recall when first asked about it. Usually candidates play a straight bat in the media but he was caught on the hop early and showed his cards.
