Who Will Be Our Next Coach?

We should also be looking for an assistant coach to coach the forwards preferably someone who played as a forward who knows and can teach forward craft.

Jake 'Milkman' Melksham?

Let's just say Nathan Buckley gets the gig for arguments sake.

Would Nathan then put the question to Jordan Lewis to become involved at some level whether that be the newly formed position of head of strategy or some other role that's less time demanding.

This might help Nathan adjust to the club overall with Jordan having spent time with the club.

CHRIS FROM CAMBERWELL might finally get his wish of having Jordan involved at some level.

Would like this I think.

The Milkyman Can. There’s a tune for that.

Posts on here as @picket fence , but I'm sure he'd deny that. 😀

Nar, Chris from Camberwell makes far more sense in his million questions to Derwayne than I ever could!

Lewis is qualified for head of rug procurement and that’s about it.

I mean he’s a 4 x premiership player with 319 games played so I’d say he’s probably already more qualified than a lot of people who are or will become assistants in the next few years. I think he’d be a great person to get involved if he wants to be

Not sure where I read/heard this but they were arguing that the soft-cap should be increased for assistant-coaches as they're losing some good brains/minds to the media.

I don't know how to reply to that except to ask who do you think the best kick at the club is?

Taylor Harris

I guess he could teach our older players how to go to new clubs for superannuation top up deals. That would actually help us a lot

I'm sorry you lost your cat. Are you sure it was Lewis that did it?

Wonder if Haircut Hale is getting the opportunity to present for appearances sake. Also can't see any of the current assistants staying when new coach arrives. This costs us more $ to pay out remaining contracts. Melbourne is such a fiscally irresponsible club.

I don't mind the idea of Lews getting 'involved' but would have concern about us hiring him as an assistant coach straight away. I think Lewis has one of the best football brains currently in the media (alongside Bucks) but there's a difference between having a sound opinion and great set of ideas/plan and then executing these with a coaching leadership role. That takes practice and experience. I think if Lewis wants to do that one day then he'll thrive. Not opposing you here Ted as I'm sure he'd be way better then most as you say but I feel like this team needs assistants (especially if Bucks is hired) that have recently been in a competitive successful team/role. Someone who has current up to date knowledge of whats working internally in the AFL and can bring that to this team and implement it effectively.

As a somewhat related side note I didn't like the Jones hire this year. Love the man and what he's done for the club but felt he was brought in as more of a familiar support person. While Radford was our main midfield coach, Jones was simply there as a respected peer type figure to keep our recently problematic mids in check with positive reinforcement. Now that Radford has left I wonder what Jones' role will be and if he's required moving forward. I'm sure he's learnt a lot from the coaches box and has good footy knowledge but unlike Lewis it certainly wasn't as evident in his media appearances last year. Often it was stating the plainly obvious instead of more in-depth analysis.

Hahahaha very funny…but true, get the others in too and while we’re at it give Tom Morris a coaching gig at the Dees that would [censored] Kornes right off.

I dunno. I reckon Caro would make a fantastic defensive coach with her miserliness

Let’s all be assured that whatever happens the media will cast it in a negative light.

If we hire Nathan Buckley : “This was a boat race. Buckley was always going to be the one. The Melbourne board are a rabble.”

If we hire anyone else : “They let Buckley slip through their fingers. [Insert assistant coach name] is on a hiding to nothing. The Melbourne board are a rabble.”

Imagine Tom Morris, Sam McClure and Damian Barrett on a Hard Quiz style podium having their flip flopping insinuations and sly assertions being thrown back in their face to try and defend for an hour straight. That’s gotta be entertaining!

i wonder how much it would cost the AFL to get her to come out and replace Snoop.

whatever the price, it would be worth it - the obsession levels with her are pretty much unheard of since the beatles

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
