I don't know about Elliot. He's a great player but look at the midfield and wingers that deliver the ball to him. All elite pinpoint kicks.

We have players like Trac that bomb in helicopter punts.

Elliot wouldn't get a kick with us

We need an active list for posters who scream all season that we never recruit any key forwards, but then reject any possible option we might bring in?

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

On paper JUH sorting out his off field problems and getting back to 40 plus goal seasons (43 goals last year) is a better long-term option but his chances of getting back to that are probably less than 10 per cent.

We’re trying to get our culture back on track, we should keep well away from this bloke

Mihocek is a free agent so I’m thinking it’s a good move. Two years plus a trigger for a third year

But

Our recent Recruiting history from the Collingwood Filth…

Brodie Grundy

Heritier Lamumba

Chris Dawes

Ben Kennedy

Hmmm

Let me think

The only reason for Mihocek would be if he could fill a similar function to BBB when he came across from North. BBB never took the competition by storm when with us, but he was vital to the structure and system. He was never a strong contested mark but if you didn't respect him he kicked goals and created goals around him. Perhaps having Mihocek and JVR as forwards, with Fritsch, Kozzie, Chandler etc... around them appeals to what new coach King wants to build?

See, the thing about this is, why Mihochek when someone like Caminiti is 10 years younger with a lot of upside and similar playstyle who is apparently on the trade table.

Can also play both ends which is enticing Collingwood to try to bring him in.

JVR is coming into season 5 and if he were to ever truly breakout and become the player we hope he can be then this is it. I would be backing him to strive as the number 1 under a new system that promises to be more attacking and free flowing.

We were never signing Oscar Allen, but it would be nice to see the club be floated around more. Since the flag, the names we have bought in have been extremely underwhelming.

Herald Sun -

Industry figures believe Brody Mihocek is more likely to leave the Pies than stay, having been offered a three-year deal at the Demons and two seasons at the Pies.

Crazy isn’t it, he either has dropped form tremendously or hasn’t adjusted to the team, state or gameplay.

Glad we missed out as you said.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back better next season. Let's just see if all the Petracca drama this time round will put players off again.

I’m hopeful we get people in, but tbh I think we won’t be getting many players in at all.

We will probably get some draft picks and that’s about all. I think our list will mainly be the same.

Hope I am wrong and we get some jets in.

Would be a great get if he does come, would rather the 2 year deal but his ability to take the best defender and allow our young key forwards to have a little more freedom aswell as his experience to teach them will be hugely important

There's key forwards and there's key forwards. Richmond, Geelong and now Brisbane got or are getting top line KF's who are in their prime (Lynch, Cameron, and Allen).

Mihocek would have been a good pick up 3 years ago. If we were contending next year, I don't mind him if it was a 2 year deal. But if the club is ok with trading Trac for draft picks, then we don't see ourselves as contending next year.

Three years for Mihocek is desperate and embarassing.

I think it was desperate and embarrassing trying to ‘make Jefferson happen’

To each their own hey

Trying to get better is embarrassing? We are not in a position to be able to get in a A grade forward, so Mihochek is a great stop gap. As a previous poster has said, I’d rather a combative Mihochek over a non-competitive Jeffo

Recruiting Mihocek is not the problem. Offering him three years is.

Drafting an 18 year old key forward is ‘desperate’? If anything, it’s the opposite you moron 😂 They’re granted more time than anyone. Screams of patience by the club.

You answered your own question.

Experience.

We already have three young KF's, plus a youngish one in Johnston. Even Petty isn't all that old, if he's to be played as a forward. Melksham is a gem in terms of experience and leadership, but he's not going to be able to play every game, or perhaps anything like it.

Our list is fairly lumpy - it's a bit unbalanced in terms of age/experience. This is a step to addressing that.

💯would take the biggest defender and give JVR and Kentfield a better crack in my opinion. The alternative is the same as we’ve seen the last couple of years.

So would Steven May. Taller, heavier, more experience, good skills and on our list.

Lazier, softer, has basically never played the position and almost certainly doesn’t want to.

The only positive if he’s contracted, there’s a lot of negatives.

Also, as one report noted, "high-maintenance".

There's a reason they want him moved on. Culture.

Tim Lamb's trigger is his name needs to be Brody at the end of the second year and he'll get another 4 years @ 900k

You have to offer more to get him out

I’m fine with 2 plus a trigger as long as the trigger is >30 games AND >15 in 2027. Ideally it’s front loaded too.

Nah, it's just all terrible.

Don't bring logic in.

This thread is classic Demonland.

Posters have been whinging for years that we haven't been able to land anyone. The reason being, other clubs offer way overs.

We are now targeting players that we think will help us, arguably with a deal that's over what their club wants to offer, and some Demonlanders (many of the same posters who have bemoaned not landing targets), are now whinging again.

You can't win.

It's Eeyore season.
