PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast

Given the selections can we push Petty back to work with TMac and Howes and bring Turner forward to work with Fritsch and JVR? Turner seems to know how to lead, has good hands and can kick straight, mostly.

Watching JVR last week at the ground, he is really struggling up forward. Doesn’t look like taking a contested mark. And I noted even in space he doesn’t use his body to keep the defender’s fist from the incoming ball as Fritsch would do instinctively. I just don’t think he has been well tutored in the intricacies of the forward craft. But at the moment he is our designated back up ruck and that’s getting him a game.

A cynic might say we are not prepared to experiment as selecting the same team will give us a win and coach and sundry we showed spirit after our defeat last year while having their eye firmly on the where we finish for next years membership and advertising

That is miles off the mark. I know a lot of women who think the AFLW needs a lot of work, is currently almost unwatchable and question the true reasoning behind establishing the league.

Personally, I couldn’t care either way.

Agree, the AFLW needs work and you’re more than fair to say so. And you’ve said it in a clear and reasonable way.

I’m just sick to death of hearing a certain delegation of man babies 💩 all over the AFLW.

If they don’t want to watch it, fine, but I’m sick of hearing threatened sooks comllaining about it. If little boys can dream of being Max Gawn, little girls should be able to dream about being Kate Hore

We drop a 46 point lead to a bottom 4 team and the only changes we make are resting a 19 year old and omitting the sub, yet I'm not surprised.

A 19 year old who hit the scoreboard for the first time last week kicking 2 goals (another chance went begging). Why rest him now with 4 games left? The time to rest him was probably a month ago.

Who is stopping them? Quite frankly I wouldnt want my grandchildren playing either at elite level. Too much control of your body, long term injuries, public scrutiny and all tbe rest. I lived next door to elite sportwoman and they were the most up themselves unfriendly girls you would ever meet. Dont know if it was because of the stress of it all or the fact they tbought they were special

Great to see Culley get a game.

Dropping Spargo absolutely the right call.

But we’re sticking fat with the same core players, as is this FD’s way.

Meanwhile Viney has a broken wrist. Perhaps we rest him and give someone else a go? Nah, of course not. (Sigh).

How is this in any way relevant to my comment

Culley earnt his go. Lindsay needs a rest. Sharp shooter replaces Spargs… fair! What other changes were called for?

Petty lucky to survive, but with May and Lever out, he may be needed.

JVR could have been replaced by Jefferson or Johnson, but he is required to give Max a rest.

If we were only taking the fourth quarter into consideration we could drop five or six…

I support the old adage that when a team has had their colours lowered to that extreme, the first blokes that should be given an opportunity to respond are those that failed dismally last week. If they fail again then we drop five or six!

And you went on some tangent about your neighbours being snobs which has zero to do with my comment

Putting aside the fact that a good half a dozen players should’ve been dropped after the most embarrassing loss in the club’s history, why are we playing an injured Jack Viney in the deadliest of dead rubbers you’ll ever get?

Sad thing is she probably could.

It goes from bad to worse. Worse as in not that Viney has an injury but worse as in we've literally got fit players ready to go but nah.. let's continue to play the guy with the broken wrist in a dead rubber game that means absolutely nothing.

And dont give me this oh 'he's playing through a broken wrist, its tough! Its not tough, its bloody stupid and it shows the absolute arrogance in our senior players in not putting the team first.

Its almost like Goodwin is trying to find ways for supporters to genuinely hate this club with some of the mind boggling decisions every single week.

is there something wrong with the selection committee like honestly???? playing players with broken wrists when our season finished after round 5 is an absolute joke. trending towards ending up in tassie or with university soon…..

Merger with Norf - at least we'd get Clarkson

the hard reality is that within next 10 years either us north or saints won’t exist plain and simple

correct. 100% correct.

Ah yes, let's play an injured Viney in a dead rubber when we have Laurie, Billings and Brown all playing good VFL footy and are ready to go.

BTO Earl? Backman Turner Oversight. The game may have changed but would have thought you put your best players forward of the ball. Last time he was swung forward in Alice missed a few opportunities but has otherwise been a capable goal kicker. Team selection and performance this season has farcical at times. Reminiscent of Stan Keaton reprising Desperate Dan at the Last Chance Saloon.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
