Huuuurrrrrrgggghhhhh….We’re gonna have to rebuild when Tassie comes in and sweeps up a bunch of draft picks aren’t we?

On recent history we cannot recruit good (not even gun, just good) players from other clubs.

Tracc/Oliver way overpaid and under skilled for the current high skill based game plan and their trade value has surely decreased significantly. We have bugger all gun players in the 23-27 (or 100-150 game bracket) on top of weak list depth. Forward line still an issue, JVR and Jeffo no guarantee either will make it.

We have a good core of young players for sure, but North have years of high draft picks and they are nowhere. Recruiting good players is a must and we seem unable too.

The idiom of a creek and lack of a paddle comes to mind.

P.S. can all the members of the Pod please allow themselves a few minutes each of totally expletive ladened free time to just let rip. I cannot believe we are in this position!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope we show a ruthless edge against the eagles this week. As a West Australian local getting the result this weekend is the only thing I want out of the rest of the season

Im not 100% sure what happened last night. So many mistakes, a lack of composure and control. With 5 mins to go, we had to slow the game down, uncontested possession chains and take the heat out of the game, but our skills (or lack thereof) meant we couldn't hit easy targets. The inability too once again miss crucial last term goals. WE ONLY NEEDED ONE GOAL in the last quarter and missed gettable chances time and again.

Through the game I was content with the effort and was thinking to myself, im happy with this fight and intent and was hopeful we could be on the rise into 2026. I was even working out the percentage needed to leapfrog Carlton on the ladder which was about a 75 point win at that stage.

Then a couple of goals in I thought we just need one here to kill this game, but we just couldn't handle the pressure from St Kilda.

Im still struggling to comprehend how that happened. I sat there for 5-10 mins at the Demon Army end just staring into oblivion until my daughter said " So are we going to go now or what?" I couldn't look any Saints supporters in the eye on the walk out as they all had a smug grin on their stupid faces.

So what's the plan now, I didn't want Goody's head but there needs to be change.

Gutted.......just gutted. Such a Melbourne thing to do.

@Demonland Please do a pod, I know it's hard but we all need it.

Understandable Andy, Binman & George. But if you can drag yourselves up for a pod, christ knows we all need something

Soooo.... what happened in that last quarter?

For a coach that is constantly talking about learnings why do we never seem to learn anything?

PS feel bad for you Andy (and George and binman), we are all in the same boat. There's only so much we can take as supporters. You give vent to our frustrations, it can be cathartic listening to the podcast so hope you do go ahead but completely understand if there is a hiatus. It is emotionally exhausting following this club.

Hallelujah! Every week there is another effing learning to be had. How many more things do we have to ‘learn’ FFS?!!

Sorry Andy. I missed this one. Understandable in the circumstances. I posted earlier and only went back to the very start to see this.

We all need time to heal.

Oh, my apologies also @Demonland , I didn’t see that post either before I commented

Pity no podcast this week...
Maybe ask a member from the coaching team or Godwin himself to come on and put a bloody spotlight light on them and grill them until they re honest about what's going on.....

I think every single supporter on Demonland feels exactly the same way. On the off chance that the podcast does end up going on, could someone please explain to me what the **** just happened?

I hope you will reconsider your determination not to do the podcast. If you do, I want to know how could Max commit such a catastrophic blunder in not telling anyone else about the 6-6-6 warning in the second quarter? This beggars belief. I thought Max was a reasonably smart guy, but now I'm not so sure. Why would you keep this information to yourself? I would be interested in your thoughts please gentlemen.

Funny that because last night I was wondering how you would recover in time for the podcast. It will be missed.

Come on lads, we need the podcast to continue, we have all been here before and we will be here again let’s all get together and feel [censored] together! That’s just what we do. Go Dees!

Learn how to start a game

Learn to kick goals

Learn to crush opponents

Learn to seal close games

There - my application to take over the coaching job. Will accept $300,000 one year contract

Sadly, the entire team on and off field, Max included, just panicked under pressure.

Completely fair @Demonland. I asked a while back (after another horrible loss) how you guys get the motivation every week to do the podcast. I don’t think discussing that loss will do anyone any good; I’d consider it a form of psychosocial hazard.

That said, I’m happy to stand in with @binman tomorrow evening and shoot the [censored]. To be honest, I don’t pay enough attention to games to provide any form of analysis and tend to get easily distracted when speaking and go way off topic. Have a think about it, I’ll just ask that I don’t be held responsible for anything I say.

I totally understand Andy, it’s no fun at all talking about what a basket case this club has become over the last couple of seasons , must be draining.

Players don’t seem to care so it’s hard to muster up any sort of motivation as a supporter.

Maybe they do care but as per the quote Gawn's said I think originally from Daniher "when all is said and done more is said than done". Yes, it's crude but when will the Melbourne FC stop putting its **** in the blender?!

Just want to say to you guys thanks for the podcast in these grim a difficult times. I felt broken after that first saints loss earlier this season, I came to your poddy and it helped with understanding more about the game tactically and what we were actually doing right in amongst the garbage.

Unfortunately watching this weekends loss to the Saints has broken me further, I officially am not investing my time, my energy, and my emotions into a club that for a very long time has had absolutely insipid culture of allowing the sort of thing like Sunday to occur. We hold the greatest losing margin record, and the second greatest losing margin (186), and now we hold the greatest choke in the last quarter of all time by giving up a 46 point lead to a team that looked average at best throughout the game.

I'll still pay my membership, and I'll still be a fan. But it think I'm stepping away from this season because they have managed to break me in new and creative ways. I'm just done.

Thanks guys

Track-watchers will be there tomorrow - appreciate that that is a bit easier than firing up for the pod Andy. Maybe a mid-week pod to allow everyone to take a breath or two?

Life goes on....

Close. It was Aesop who said that back in circa 1560.

How does the demonland site traffic on Sunday night compare with Sept 25 2021?

Actually an interesting question. Do Melbourne supporters prefer being miserable or euphoric?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
