Why couldn’t Rivers take his role for that game? Why couldn’t Langford get some CBA exposure? Hell I’d even take bringing Laurie in for a game to give him a go

For anyone who can’t see how stubborn Goodwin is, this should show them exactly the kind of mindset he has

And it’s going to run the club into the ground next year if he’s still our coach

What's even more funny is that even though he was bed ridden with the flu we still played him majority of the midfield minutes 🤣

I reckon I can be convinced on lots of outwardly counterintuitive things as they relate to footy. This is one that not even the strongest argument would turn me around on.

Yes, footy careers are short. Yes, you need to make every game count. No, you don't need to play when very unwell or seriously affected by injured.

A half-fit X is better than a fully fit Y is one of the stupidest cliches in all of top level team sport - far stupider in an 18-person game.

I mean that's not totally true, because even when sick some players are simply still better than the alternative.

If this was a final, or we had to win this game to make finals, you take a risk and back in your best players. We did that with May in the GF and it worked.

But the season is so dead it's cold, and this is when these types of arguments are irrelevant.

We had a golden opportunity to rest Trac and mix things up, and we chose not to. Instead we pushed him through illness, and we still lost. Great work.

IMO, this is the reason why I'm over Goody.

Last season we wasted the whole year only to find this gem in the middle, play the whole pre season there, only to shaft him to the backline ALL YEAR and not even TRY him once there

I see in the other thread, a reliable poster has said Oliver believes the game has passed him by. All teams have moved on with pace in the midfield (adelaide, freo) and we continue to play the slow bulls who can't kick in the middle while Rivers rots in the backline

Better hope his missus convinces him Victoria is the place to be because I'm sure a trip home to reunite with his former midfield coach will be back on the cards.

I've said it for 4 years. Our FD sucks. I'm glad to see some are waking up to it.

Only way it all changes at once is for Goodwin to roll. And it ain't happening with no CEO or President.

As tough as it would i wouldnt blame Rivers if he decided to request a trade to West Coast just further enhance his talent and ability by playing more midfield time at the eagle.

He'd actually be a gun in their mid alongside Harley Reid.

The treatment by Goodwin towards River has been not only mind boggling but pretty pathetic actually.

I wonder if all this bubbling tension of Curnow wanting to leave was put to rest last week which led to Curnow's uptick in enthusiasm against us. If we had faced them a week earlier we probably would have rolled them by 3 goals.

Was going to post during the game day thread about being angry and [censored] off about a carlton set shot that pretty much ended our night but then it was Doch having the shot and to be honest I was actually OK with if. Great bloke had a [censored], really [censored] few years out of his 14 in the league. Wish him the best - perhaps we would be wise in finding him a post playing role at our club and teach our boys about resilience
