Yes, the senior coach must miss seeing JVR wandering around aimless, out of position and when he accidentally gets near the ball he drops the mark. Good selection I reckon. As bad as bringing Lever in and persisting with Viney. If only Spargo came in too - then it would be near perfection (-:

200% this. Norf's backline is full of c-graders. They would take Lever in a heartbeat, pay his salary, and give us a first rounder. Would also give Jake a new lease-of-life I recon. We should have let JV go to Norf last year. Would have been good for Jack, Norf and us.

I reckon Comben is very good. Pink isn’t bad, either.

So JVR and Jeffo up forward with Melksham and Fritsch with JVR rucking again. Do the same thing expect the same result. If I was JVR I'd be seeking a trade this offseason, Goodwin is destroying his development.

Yep and if something happens to JVR then guess who rucks??? JEFFO! 🥴😵😵‍💫🤯

TMac of course

Very predictable

Season is done so we should have used this opportunity to play some of the lesser lights. Why not give bill laurie a run. What’s to lose?

Couldn’t agree more. Described along with Bowey as one of the best ball users in the draft. Playing some good football in the midfield at Casey. Give him a block of games other wise why [censored] re sign him. Let’s have a look at the kids that may inject some energy and enthusiasm to a season that has been a huge disappointment. No selection integrity whatsoever and zero competition for spots because some players are getting gifted games despite poor form or rushed back in with no form. Keep them honest and hungry and for their spot in the team.

We have probably robbed him of his chance of playing 250 games.

He was dropped when in good form and if he had kept playing, he would be on nearly 250 now and then could have retired to give a younger player a chance for the last 7-8 games.

I think he is entitled to feel p-ssed off.

Yes RED that's exactly how I see it

its a disgrace and should be called out

Shambolic decisions with a team going nowhere and management missing in action

Personally I’d offer May to Nth Melbourne and play Petty at full back. I’ve loved having May at full back the last 5 years, the total package but he’s cooked.

Why on earth did we drop Tmac anyway, he was one of our best and most reliable players, Got dropped while in form???

There have been several many posts which have asked that question, but mostly rhetorically in order to put the boot into Goodwin et al and expresss frustration with the club.

But if it is as inexplicable as it seems to all of us, maybe the question should be asked genuinely. Maybe, just maybe, there is something we don't know. Anyone in the know have anything to say?

So you are saying we don't know what we don't know

Such hs if there is a problem what's the issue with explaining it to members

What does Laurie have to do to get a consistent run in the seniors (and not as sub)? I've watched Casey a bit this season and he's always accumulating good numbers and having an impact. He's exactly what we need at half forward at the moment and he can give us a point of difference in the midfield.

He's signed for 2026, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's elsewhere next season.

Without sounding like an episode of Yes Minister, I said, maybe, just maybe there is an unstated reason.

If it is private (to TMAC or others) then it would not be surprising that there would be an 'issue with explaining it to members'.

Let's look at it the other way round. Has Goodwin ever given an explanation for dropping him when his form was so good etc? If he hasn't explained it, it's very odd that he hasn't.

Maybe he has - but I can't recall it. Anyone know exactly what was said (if anything)?

May on Walker

Turner on Fogarty

…? on Thilthorpe … Lever??? I thought Tmcd would have been the obvious promotion. Still the inside selectors know best

respect

Seriously

You obviously don’t pay any attention to the Casey games

Laurie has been probably the best Melbourne listed player for the year

And you think Goodwin will lose respect by playing him, that respect was lost 2 years ago

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
