    it really does feel like they were the doyens of aflw, and daisy's hall of fame elevation were much-deserved

    Daisy is an absolute superstar both on and off the field, and we are so lucky to have had her at the club when we did. Hopefully she will return in a coaching capacity at some stage.

    As an aside, it is fantastic that Daisy and Erin Phillips have been acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to the game. However, and this is said as a fan of the AFLW, I do hope the AFL don't go overboard in trying to fast track large numbers of AFLW players into the Hall of Fame over the next few years. The same eligibility criteria need to apply for the women as for the men to maintain the integrity of the HOF.

    Very proud moment for her and the community that this club represents.

    Whether some wanted to or not - the club spent a lot of capital forwarding the opportunities of women in our sport and I was proud then of the stories we were to enable and prouder still of the names Daisy and Erin and whoever is next…

    Not sure many people even grasp the level of physical mental and emotional strength it would take to birth twins and then return to play and win a flag shortly after.

    The damage the female body goes thru post birth is significant, especially when birthing multiples. It is a far far greater “injury” hurdle to overcome than just about any typical AFL injury would be.

    Not enough is being said about the additional physical challenges that women playing AFL (or any contact sport for that matter) have to overcome to be at their peak every week.

    It's strange to think Daisy was 29 when AFLW started. We certainly didn't see her best on the field and yet her influence on and off it for the MFC and league was unmatched. And it was her commitment to the VWFL that got the ball rolling for the league in a lot of ways - she simply dominated and the team and rivals that went with her essentially became the AFLW.

    It's also really fitting that Daisy and Erin go in together as they represent two different paths for women of their generation in terms of Aussie Rules.

    Erin is an elite athlete who was probably always going to find her way to the top tier of a professional sport. She was lost to the game, like so many others, because she had other choices. When footy was back on the table in a (semi) professional way, she was there to show what someone who'd had a decade plus of pro conditioning could do.

    Daisy, with respect, was probably never going to make it in another sport. She had tunnel vision for footy and was lucky enough to find supportive environments, against the odds, but also due to her dedication. So much of her success on the field was due to footy smarts that were hard-won before the public spotlight arrived. Also just an incredible leader, whose fingerprints are still all over our AFLW program.

      The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

      A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

      The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

      Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
