Disco has been absolutely excellent as of late.

this. watching him live today, he's in great form, probs our best tall back when the ball hits the ground, and marking beautifully. Great call by Goodwin to rest Tmac. I think this is a crucial period in Turners development where he is playing elite footy. you don't want to mess with that. They will bring Tmac back no doubt but they may have to move him forward. turner is playing irresistible footy.

Did anyone see that huge flock of black cockatoos that flew over the ground during the third quarter. Haven’t seen black cockies in Melbourne since 2021…just saying 😂

I thought they were bats

Top score of the round, too.

Sixty years ago we would have said “we kicked the sweep”. Does anyone else remember that?

It was pretty surreal. They came in with hundreds of seagulls. I wondered what they knew that we didn’t.

Not sure what the weathers been like in Melbourne but there's an old bush legend that says when ya see mobs of black cockies rain is 3days away.

Had the pleasure of watching AJ up close and personal for two quarters and geez he’s impressive. He does not hold back, he’s a brute of a player and while he didn’t get the glory and adulation given to our goal-kickers, he deserves it just as much since he was instrumental in some of those goals. I really hope we keep him in the side.

A brute eh?

Like Brute Bernard - back in the 60s wrestling days?

If the umpires didn't somehow miss that trip on Kozzie in the goal square against the Hawks we would be 6 straight. That sucked the momentum out of us

The irony today ....

AJ is all effort and while low in skill, note the dropped chest mark 20 out and the fumbled handball, he assisted with 4 goals and some crunching tackles.

Every team needs an AJ, who will crunch packs, put his body on the line and play the selfless footy that team mates love.

I love watching AJ.
Not the most talented but give his absolute all.
You just know opposition players would be hearing footsteps when he's around.
Today he'd be out've position but will himself to get a hand in and cause chaos.
The last tap on was Gold.

Watching the highlights of the Crows Eagles and I have to say that Langford plays so much like Dawson in almost every possible way.

Not sure where the Bont comparisons come from.

oh and just casually, in the last. 2 rounds, we’ve beaten last year’s grand finalists.

Not too shabby!!

Spot on.

Reminding me of a more nimble Jake Lever with a stronger ability to win 1v1s

Not as jumpy either.
He's a very steady hand.

Wanna highlight Langdon.
He's in that premiership year form again.

AJ is a classic... I can't believe I'm here guy.

He's a very smart player.... you saw that tap didn't you ? He thinks. He's a bit like Laurie... betwixt and between , the difference being AJ has a little bit more get up and go. BL has more a silky game.

AJ is that guy that will drag you unceremoniously over the line ... he's s a grunt.

We've needed a grunt .

So much to like about that but I want to highlight AJ. He causes chaos up front, so much of which results in goals. We counted 5 today.

Go Dess

We are lauding a guy who got 6 posesions I say again 6 on top of his 4 or 5 last week. Yeah a few LUCKY tap ons but sorry to pop ur bubble He is a very average player!

I call bulldust on this legend. I am lucky enough to see Yellow Tail Black Cockatoos most weeks at work, hardly rained for months.

Get the rose colored glasses of.. he is a verry limited footballer who for all his bluff and bluster isn't the answer!

Tracc breaking straight through the front of packs.

Defensive mids rotating with a role to stop and pressure their ball carriers, McVee, Rivers and Salo.

Max is looking younger all the time, covers the ground, tackles and taps.

Fritsch continues with enthusiasm.

Kossie was so slippery, he just went to spaces with speed.

Turner playing great footy, positioning and reading of the play is great.

Who said we cannot kick big scores.

Forward line was dangerous, great pressure to hold it in there. Played some tempo footy when Syd was looking to push in the second quarter. We are getting smarter.

Bowey is having a great season.

We are getting belief and confidence.

Lever doing the leadership for the backline.

Our defensive lines and structure confused them, our pressure and tacking had them second guessing. The result, fumbles, missed kicks and turnovers.

Good coaching, and on-field leadership.

We are building.

Tmac having a good year and could probably use some "management" to keep him in good nick.
We're in a good position list wise ATM.
Competition for spots at both ends of the ground is high.

They have been in the city and around the Yarra for the past 10 days.

Usually these cockatoos come into the city when the country side has dried out.

My guess is that some consistent rains and they will be back to the bush.

Also only 23 (OK, 24 in a week).

The kind of player you can build a team around for a long time - which hopefully will be reflected in the huge contract we offer him.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
