AJs clearly not overly skilled (his shot on the run was genuinely hilarious) but will give his all again and again for the team.

It's an indictment on Jeffo that we had to go pick a mature age bullocking psycho out of the hardest working team in the VFL.

What is it they say about hard work beating talent?

    We lose Petty, Melk, and Brayshaw. All three impact our ability to score (Gus going down meant Trac couldn't play forward).

    If we had kept even just one of them, I reckon we would have won. If we had kept two, we would have won it for sure.

    And we still miss Gus more than has been truly articulated.

    The elephant in the room is our forwardline looks so much better with Petty, Kozzy, Melksham and Sparrow's pressure - kudos to Tom for reinventing himself tuese last few weeks. He's a great mark, one of our few reliable kicks for goal and very disciplined.

    You can raffle the next 3 positions, but AJ, Fritta and Spargo were reasonable in the last quarter too. The latter two have to kick their goals though.

    I'd pull the trigger on JVR to CHB at Casey, because being able to release Turner to the other end could he a bit of a game changer.

    Having a quality forward like Melksham who is getting on in years just makes the world of difference.

    He's someone who just gives his all and sadly what we have been missing.

    Losing him in the Swans game a few years back cost us a flag.

    But today it was great to see him back.

    It's his intensity that some other players could really learn from.

    I hope after his long career he's stays on at the club in a coaching role.

    I am not sure that is correct, Jefferson is not all that talented.

    Our tail is getting shorter.

    'Lesser' players are making more effective contributions.

    Almost every players can feel respectable with their output today.

    But also importantly, almost every player is still capable of doing more.

    Just two wins out of the 8. That's all that is going on now.

    I was critical of Oliver at the start of Q2 in the game day thread. But he delivered a fantastic second quarter and was a big contributor in the win. Well done, Clarry.

    [censored] yeah! I haven't been this proud of the club in a long time.

    Gawn is a bloody champion, Bowey continued to excel, and Oliver and Trac both had their best games in weeks.

    And it's impossible for me not to mention Melksham. I [censored] love that guy. He's the most clutch forward on our list.

    This is the first time all year I've actually felt confident we can turn things around.

    AJ reminds me of the class of player our lists were full of in the bad old days in the 00s and 10s - players we appreciated because their efforts stood out in teams where effort lacked - but ultimately weren’t good enough once the improvement came. I don’t see him with a role in the long term but I’m happy to enjoy the ride while he’s having a dip and getting it done.

    Proud to say I was a big Melky supporter when so many wanted his head on a plate the last few years. He has to be one of the best kicks in the league - on both feet. Absolutely brilliant today.

      A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
