Thing is Disco is playing extremely good footy as the third tall down back.

Could never understand why Goodwin would drop him.
Can be swung forward too.

Learnings: 4 quarters of high pressure footy, teamwork and never-say-die footy is a winning combo!!! ❤️

I continue to be impressed with Bowey's rapid rise this season.

Many could argue that he gets a lot of easy ball with his role but there were several occasions where he put his body on the line.

Went at 86% DE as well.

Good call.

Went off the boil after his shoulder injury

He's back to his best this year.

Which is bl56dy damn good.

I leant today I love Melbourne FC and footy.

Lever back means Disco up forward I reckon which prob means AJ is out.

Nah ... AJ is so useful and bruising - and gives it all with a gusto that the big 'uns in opposition did not expect - he can replace Spargo who, IMO, is an under-performer. AJ, Lever and Disco as a fwd might well make us a regularly nasty proposition. Chandler was a great contributor in this game, as well.

100% i had him delisted in the near future at the start of the season, but he has turned it around epically. I'd love to see him get on a few chains and HB receives and kicking it from the front half more as well. Once/if those score involvements start going up, then he'll start getting noticed a lot more as well.

You seriously had Bowey down as a possible player to delist? Unbelievable.

You know, had we converted against the Hawks last week - we had them on toast - and won, we would be just outside the 8 on percentage only. Instead we're 1 win + %, but that's nothing in the scheme of a long season and we're still in the front 9.

Looks like we're winding up and the team is starting to believe.

With Viney and Lever back, that'll just about be the best, and most settled team we can put forward.

With a consistent team, gaining in belief and fitness, who knows?

He has been crucial in getting our slingshot game going and was fantastic again today. Really growing into the role after his injury interrupted season last year.

Shout out the the Melk.
He stated a couple years ago he was playing every game like his last.
Just keeps on keeping on.

Fritsch needs to bring that effort consistently. That's the standard now. Great cameo as sub.

Melksham was unreal.

Gawn's late clunks were huge.

Again great call.

Last two sentences especially.

How great to have a quality forward that plays with so much intensity in Melksham.

He was even considerate enough to give his opponent a drink.

And I suppose a bath.

Bowey has become elite. What a great game. He missed that target on the wing, otherwise he was superb. Won so many clutch moments.

A game high 10 intercept possessions, 5 score involvements and 1 goal assist at 86% DE.

A+ Bowser! 👏👏👏

Delisting was abit of a stretch but he fell off a cliff last year after being KO'd.

I'll forever be convinced that we win the flag in 2023 if he didn't get injured.

We were one forward short and he was in fine form. He shows up in big games too.

Yeah, big loss at a bad time.

Can't wait to watch the replay.

May even watch some other footy shows. Probably not classified as much as I'd like to see smug McClure praise our win

Lindsay's second half was huge.

He learns, onfield, against them all - atoning for let-downs from others; the thinking footballer, with silky skills and separating pace.

I'm in with your theory on that. We lacked the ability to kick goals, it's exactly what he does.

We lose Petty, Melk, and Brayshaw. All three impact our ability to score (Gus going down meant Trac couldn't play forward).

Wow wow wow!!

Best win in years!!!

Fantastic effort by the boys.

I needed that!!

My 6yo (who got his first membership this year) has sung the song about 80 times since the last siren. What a sight.

That's why we follow these things - as silly as it may all be some time - a bunch of strangers running around an oval, eliciting these big emotions. Getting us all riled up, excited, euphoric and broken, sometimes all in a minute.

Then we run out, the underdogs, with the footy world and media having written us off. Our culture scrutinised every single moment.

And we claim the win. Away from home. The song sung louder than it has in a long time.

This is why we share these moments with our loved ones.

Go Dees ❤️

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
