Stats please K.C?

Donโ€™t worry about stats. Some players are stats loading. Useless handballs. Put others under pressure. Ineffective kicks. Sideways kicks. Iโ€™d rather this be a development opportunity for players to take on the corridor. Instead they go slow and safe and boring. Southport flood back then got us on rebound. Sounds familiar ?

Itโ€™s very disappointing

Kolt was the biggest disappointment. I thought heโ€™d play through the midfield, get 20+ possessions, kick 3 goals and get that swagger going. Instead, well it was disappointing is best way to sum up.

Kynan Brown. A yes from me !! Hope he gets promoted soon.

Howes is too good for VFL. Iโ€™d like to see him across half forward and try to nail goals

Others ? Plenty of maybes. Sestan ok. Adams ok Woey jnr ok Verrall yeah probably ok. But they didnโ€™t give me any confidence of being able to go higher.

Jeffo Ummmmm letโ€™s persist but itโ€™s looking not good imv

1.4 in the second quarter and 0.8 in the third for a grand total of 1.12 for a half. Maybe someone can convince Fev that we're the next basket case that need him for a game. I think he'd perform better than most in our forward line.

Goal kicking accuracy is contagious it seems. Pathetic.

15 AFL listed players & we dish that up !!!

The coaching panel & the Football Dpt need a total overhaul.

Jeez CF we kicked 1.12 and you want to sack the coaches, if I was a player and I dished that rubbish up I would be expecting to be playing at Casey for the foreseeable future. They should have been a mile in front instead they squandered every opportunity.

Casey players doing their very best to emulate their senior counterparts in most aspects of the game. So frustrating! So many things need to change!

I suspect Kolt is severely underdone with a limited pre season. Yes probably a regression but give the coaches g

Should give him a month training block get him running in top of the ground play a month in the 2s to build form then look at him for the 1s only if he demands it.

Just want the Kolt to be that aggressive goalkicking half forward with a midfield burst. Ah we can dream

Doesn't quite work like that, and you'd have to presume that he's hitting his targets in terms of overall cardio fitness and running ability.

But yes, it's a long way back from a long period on the sidelines. You only have to look at the difference between this year's Bowey vs last year's where he missed a couple of months with the shoulder.

We have two former players who are heavily involved in our club, who used to be elite goal kickers. One is our president and the other is Robbo.

Surely we canโ€™t do worse than to have one or both of them spend an hour a week working with our forwards on goal kicking.

iโ€™ve said this before, surely they arenโ€™t busy enough to spent one hour at least a week with the talls

Well I was there today, and you would have to say ideal conditions. A bit of a breeze blowing from the south but not enough to move the ball around so our inaccuracy was too similar to the ones last week but if anything WORSE!

I'll start with the positives

Kynan Brown was excellent today and I would be seriously looking to play him next week and give him a block of games

Woey was also good gets his share of possesions but sometimes doesn't use it well enough

Sestan did some very good things running of half back and also shouldn't be far away from a call up

Lever grew in confidence as the game progressed and I would expect him to be back next week

Howes is too good for this competition, but I'm not sure he is AFL Ready at this stage

Probably the standout for me was Riley Bonnar, seemed to everywhere and knows how to move seamlessly into and out of play

Jeffo an almost game, should have kicked at least 3 and also ALMOST took some tough pack marks, he was aggressive and gained a few frees because of it, needs confidence but I thought him OK Today

Ricky Mentha Junior displayed some class on occasions but was guilty of trying to do a Kozzy.

NEGATIVES

The Kolt I dont think had a possesion to half time and did little to enthuse. As others have so rightly said he still lacks match conditioning but again Goody Rushed him back when not ready

JVR hnmmm I would play him at CHB and see what he can do there!

Henderson, a wasted pick too slow

Billings, game has passed him by

Verral tried hard and kicked a ripper of a goal but still NQT

Campbell, a reasonably good ruckman but little else,

Luker Kentfield hnmm little to impress.

Thats about it!

Something's not right. When you look at his VFL performances from last year he was regularly getting 20+ possessions, laying tackles, etc. though he has never been one to hit the scoreboard often.

Could be a wasted year unfortunately, he really needed a full pre-season.

Maaate somethings not right with the whole club! Some serious decisions need to be made!

Long lay off. Not fit enoughโ€ฆ

Players that are injured over pre season should not be rushed.. it clearly doesnโ€™t work. Instead make them do the full program and if it means 2-3 months of the season so be it.

Yeah but typical Goody.... brings players back UNDERDONE! All down to him!

Casey has very similar structural problems to the firsts side.

Despite having 15 listed AFL players they have been humbled at home by a stand alone side.

If you don't see the systemic coaching & structural problems I can't help you.

Tholstrup isn't nearly as good a player as he thinks he is. Until he realises this, and starts putting the work in, he's going nowhere.

"No selection integrity"

"All these Casey players never get a go from Goody"

Give me a spell

I donโ€™t think you understand the concept.

Selection integrity refers to selecting players who are in form and dropping them when they are not. By not selecting players when they deserve a chance to play (Laurie & Sestan for example) you are inhibiting their chances of success. Conversely, by selecting players who are out of form (JVR, Kolt & Oliver) and continuing to play them in the seniors, you see a decline in output and confidence.

It also sends mixed message to fringe players. What do they need to do, to be selected?

Now we have a situation where 60-70% if the list is playing below their normal standard and both teams are devoid of confidence.

Lastly, on the list management, if Goody doesnโ€™t like many of our players and wonโ€™t select them, why are they still on the list? Goody has a lot to answer for, with the current predicament we face.

BUMP THIS 100% CORRECT!

Kolt's got some time, but it's not looking good IMO.

JT definitely nailed both picks last year though.

I doubt he's not "fit" enough. Even with a foot injury you can keep loads up and continue to build or maintain cardio fitness.

He's just missed a lot of footy and match practice - no way through that now except to get games into him.

Every coach makes a call on who gives us the best chance to win us the game.

eg out of form Clarry will provide more than in form Laurie. Or out of form JVR will give more than in form Fullarton. you might not agree but the calls are made

All of these calls over 9 years resulted in success finals and a flag and an extremely united and tight group.

but sure mistakes have been made

Today showed there are very few knocking down the door

โ€œMax Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.โ€ - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasnโ€™t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus Oโ€™Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, thereโ€™s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demonsโ€™ poor use of the football, itโ€™s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbellโ€™s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
