I've seen a fair bit of commentary on Demonland that says Fritta can't play a defensive role.

When we beat Collingwood in 2023 King's Birthday, he played the Melksham defensive role on Moore and kicked 3, and was the most dominant forward on the ground.

That should be the model for his role today.

[censored] it all. I was up ‘til 1am making a ‘We Love You Claz’ sign and I’ve bloody left it at home. I even bought a big canvas on a frame last night after banner-making and lugged the stoopid thing home on two trains and a bus (lightweight but unwieldy), got more red and blue poster paint on my kitchen table and my clothes than on the canvas and now I’ve gone and left it at home. Damn.

That is heartbreaking.

Saw an insta post about the “wizards”.

Sorry, but Watson is not a pimple on Jeff Farmers butt cheek in comparison.

To all the midfielders including Kozzie, please provide some protection to Max Gawn, because Hawthorn are going to crash into him. I believe we can win today even without Melksham and Viney.

It's time for a good game from Kolt. Another low contribution game tomorrow and he forfeits his spot.

sums up being a melbourne fan

Looking forward to heading in soon for today’s match, as long as we have a real go I’ll be happy….Hawks are a talented side with a lot of weapons that move the ball really quickly, not an easy assignment but hopefully we can stay with them.

Howesy kept out of Casey team as a carryover player. AJ and Bill both playing for Casey.

SEASON DEFINING GAME

Are we a finals chance or not.

we will know today

aj looks wobbly

A lot more people posting on game day thread this week.

Three wins has renewed our confidence.

But it will be a tough game and likely if we win,a season definer.

Hopefully Jvr goes berserk and even kicks a pile of goals.

Here's hoping.

21 degrees today. Where else would you rather be than sitting in the Colosseum.

Not confident but today will give us an indication of where we are at.

Viney a very massive loss though.

Damn auto correct!

Tbh i think we'll be lucky to get within 5/6 goals of the Sqawkers. Could be wrong. Think we'll actually miss Viney shutting down someone today. Someone else will need to do that role. Too many not giving Hawthorn due credit imho

Dees need to be awake early . Don't want to get jumped as that's catchup footy.... tiring and all too often futile.

Like to see Fritter get jiggy. Be handy should Clarry have a blinder to silence his 'fan club' in the media. Roo needs to hang on to a few and find the sticks otherwise I'm not sure why he's back in tttt.

Just got to make a fist of it Dees.

Go us !!

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
