No because at his best he reads the play well, finds good position and kicks beautifully

That may well be true, but he still needs to bring the defensive heat and effort

(Including tonight)

Melb and hawthorn play the exact same teams as each other over the next 3 rds.

The only way forward for Goodwin and is new style of play is to win the next 3.

If we win the next 2 and get belted by the Hawks, he’ll still be in trouble I reckon.

Gates open at 5:30pm (MCC 5pm)

Order of events:

6.50pm - Pre-Match Entertainment
7.01pm - Light Horses Lap of Honour
7.12pm - Observance Ceremony
7.18pm - Joint Banner Run Through
7.30pm - Match Start

Note: they pause entry through all gates during the Observance Ceremony (at 7.12pm). If you're not inside the ground by then, you'll be held outside.

With increased security measures it’ll take longer to process everyone. They really should open the gates at 4:30pm imo. At Easter Monday’s Hawks vs Geelong match there were folks who missed the first quarter due to the time it takes to get everyone in.

GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS!

GIVE ‘EM HELL!!!

I just hope the players know you have your lucky socks and play for them

I am heading down to this game - one of my 5 annual games I attend seeing that I live 2 hours away. Our family group will have 3 Dees supporters and 4 Tigers supporters.

Tigers are no easy beats because they are playing with intensity, system and skill. Midfield battle will probably break even, our backline should be far too good and experienced to be truly troubled, but their backline is really, really strong. Whoever Vlastuin takes he will probably beat, so one of Petty or Fritsch is looking at a average evening. I can't see Fullarton on him unless he is given a negating role.

Our game plan has changed/is changing too much for Yze to have to much inside knowledge, but he will know how our stars play.

For mine, accurate foot skills, and intensity when in transition are the keys for a Dees win.

I imagine we'll try to put Tom Sparrow on Vlastuin.

Make sure you wear the monocle in the correct eye - massive faux pas

Good call

Class bit of tap work from Campbell sets up long bomb goals from Henderson

My sister and a bunch of her Sydney friends visited Melbourne for Easter and will be attending tonight, cheering on the Red and the Blue!

Sadly, I stayed behind in Sydney to play host to a friend visiting from overseas and so still have not managed to visit and watch a game. But I'll be scaring my neighbours and passer bys on the street with my shouting at the TV. GO DEES ❤️💙

Casey are using great combination of maintaining possession with lots of chip kicks and lead up marks and going fast with overlap and forwad handballs. I reckon that's the template for Goody's game plan.

I know context is everything, but I actually felt a bit uncomfortable reading this. I'm curious...did it also affect others in that way?

Nahhh, it’s not really possible to talk about competitive sports without referencing combat. We say teams ‘beat’ other teams all the time.

Overheard in th MCC

'I don't mind global warming old chap as i love the heat and my three houses on the Coast are all closer to being beachfront - but geez its ruining the ski season. Hardly getting any use out of the Chalet. Thank god for Japan'

Easily the worst thing about sitting in the MCC is the lack of feel for the modern game by so many. "Just kick it" is a regular refrain, as is "terrible kick, number ten". "His name is Turner, you nuffy" is my response.

A rare literal and figuratively cheesy joke found in the wild.

What a time to be alive.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
