Tonight's game raised an interesting grammatical problem.

"No Bontempelli; No Bulldogs."

Is basically sound. Or at least accepted as a convention. But...

"Yes Bontempelli; Yes Bulldogs."

T'is a weird one.

The guy I think we got wrong and I always had a lot of time for (and was one of our few goalkicking midfielders) is Harmes. We miss what he can provide, plus another around the ground mid rotation. I'd have him ahead of Sharp for example.

Because the negative has to be stipulated otherwise the subject is assumed as positive.

‘If there is ‘no’ Bontompelli, there is ‘no’ bulldogs’

Vs.

‘If there is Bontompelli, there is (the) Bulldogs’

Miles Bergman = Temu Horne-Frances 😝

Took me a while to realise that JHF wasn't Superman and couldn't be at both ends of the ground at once.

That being said they are both good players

So Beveridge couldn’t win a friend last year ..supporters wanted him gone ..media said he was gone (multiple times) club hasn’t committed to a longer contract ..all of a sudden this year ..he’s a genius ..,parallels anyone 🤨.

Look at how the Dogs have played all season, combine that we’ve who’s been missing. Had Bont, Treloar, Weightman and JUH out for numerous weeks to start the season, Bont is back but Darcy is out.

Last season we as a club were affected badly by the Oliver media coverage, to be fair the Dogs are copping just as much if not more over JUH and are handling it on and off the field like professionals.

Except they are copping it NOWHERE NEAR as much as we did over Clarrie. You’re only saying this because their “troubled player” situation is currently in the spotlight. Cast your mind back to when it was peak Clarrie media coverage then compare that with what’s happening right now with Jamarra. Not even a fraction of what we copped.

Besides, how does anyone outside the Bulldogs inner sanctum know how professional their handling of the situation is?

Hunner percent. Tough competition with Hogan, Riccardi and Stringer in that forward line.

You scots BoBo?

Harmes left as he couldn’t hold down a spot in the 22. Same as he has been dropped by the dogs. If you don’t remember all his poor games, I can refresh your memory

Hunter was brought in to fill a hole on the wing

2 separate situations

You get used to the constant revisionalism on these threads DD. I remember what might have been his last game for us against Richmond in an 'away' game towards the end of that season and he couldn't hit a coo's @rse with a banjo. Still, good luck to him.

Harmes 4 goals V GWS. Very pleased for him. He turned the '21 GF with his beautiful pass to Fritter in Q3.

And wasn’t he the player who kicked the ball to Watts on the wing, who then ran to kick THAT GOAL against Pies at the MCG?

The James Webb Telescope is actually searching for Bulldogs on other planets by attempting to detect traces of Bontempelli in the upper atmosphere.

There’s a very good article in the Hun today about Beveridge. I think we were crucified over issues last year & really JUH’s “antics” probably surpass all our issues rolled into one. My stand is still to support our coach & coaching team & let him ..the players & club be judged at the end of the year.

I’ll be at the ‘G today for the Blues/Cats match. I have a niece who has defected and is a Cats fan much to the chagrin of my all-Carlton family. I’m supporting her because I know only to well what it’s like to be the black sheep and I respect her for having the balls to come out as a Cats fan, unlike my gutless self who masqueraded as a Blues fan for many years. 😭

I’ll be going for the Blues though. Soz if that makes anyone throw up their brekky 😅 At least one person here will be of the same mind, huh @No. 31 ?????

The last three weeks seem to have been never ending football. With Gather round, Easter and then Anzac Day it's easier to count the days when AFL was not on.

For all that it doesn't seem to have impacted attendances but I'd love to see the TV ratings.

Good showing in Canberra last night but can anyone tell me the cost of a seat in the stands? It seemed they were only 80% full compared to the standing areas which were packed.

Spot on.

When the media talked about the Clarrie situation, it was framed as though it was the club’s fault and MFC should somehow be responsible for his behaviour and we had bad culture blah blah blah.

Now, the media is framing the JUH story as if it’s just such a pity and the Bulldogs are the victims of this “troubled player.”

Wildly different treatment for the two clubs.

Nah, I lived there for a few years and Hunner has stuck with me. Still bust out a ‘scran’ from time to time, haha

Very good BoBo. I think my favourite scots word might be glaikit. Scran is very north of England I think? From my time living down south I still call a curry a ruby and say yer man from my time in Ireland.

Tonight’s game revealed a grammatical tragedy of Shakespearean proportions (where's @Ghostwriter in an emergency like this?)
"No Bontempelli; No Bulldogs" — tight, mournful, the stuff of banners and battle cries.
"Yes Bontempelli; Yes Bulldogs" — sounds like a bad motivational poster found in the general manager's office.
"Eventually it’ll just be silence — no Bontempelli, no Bulldogs, no meaning — just the wind" — We are all mad, insane with the hopelessness of trying to find meaning where there is none. Dostoyevsky

Just turned on Kayo and Sydney wearing the old South Melbourne guernsey with the black shorts look great. More so when compared to the bland nothingness of GC.

55 pt turnaround in just over a Q

Swans are trash

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
