Port have some big talent and are playing a good brand of football. This is making me feel even worse about our situation.

JFC. Find something else to worry about.

I hate this manufactured “rivalry” that’s come about from one silly interaction between Hinkley and Sicily last year. Proper rivalries are organic and take a lot longer to develop.

Why can’t we just play a game of flippin’ footy without having to rely on drama to garner interest?

Eh?

This rivalry actually IS organic

The players and the clubs genuinely don’t like each other, dating back long before Hinkley / Ginnivan / Sicily

Soft free to give Hawks the last goal I thought. Port’s ball handling has been something to behold. It’s frenetic ball movement but it just keeps coming off for them, and their system means there are team mates always nearby to receive, unlike us. They are making the Hawks look like a bit like us. I suspect Mitchell will make a few changes and the Hawks will give it a big crack in the second half.

Whatever comes out will get 1 day in the news, way down the runsheet then be buried. Cats get the best media run in the game

the only other player that has gone to prison is benny cousins, this will all be much bigger then that of that what he has done or accused of is 1000x worse, the stengle incident and all that other bs will come out after it

I can hear Wheatley already “incredibly sad day for a club that does so much right, to be let down like this must have Geelong people scratching their heads.. etc” before moving on and never mentioning it again

I don’t recall any rivalry between them. But even so, the focus on the whole aeroplane thing is overkill.

That paragon of football media, Paul Wheatley, I assume?

You’re loving this, aren’t you. Revelling, I’d say. Happy as a pig in sch!tt. Giddy with excitement. Not even an hour ago another Demonlander messaged me to vent about posters who can barely conceal their joy at the position our club’s in. Your name was exhibit A. and not for the first time. I don’t expect you’ll rein it in, just wanted to let you know how cringe it is.

Cheers happy jack 😉

Started when they appointed Clarkson mid finals series, escalated when they poached junior Burgoyne, exploded with the finals series last year

The clubs genuinely don’t like each other

Lots of clubs genuinely don’t like each other but the hype leading up to the match isn’t off the charts like this.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
