Wasn’t it Vic Police that released a statement about charges which they subsequently walked back with a re-released statement?

Apparently so.

They did but the statement never named names, so I don't know how that changes things legally??

You can’t rule it out no matter what people on here say. It is always a possibility with Clarry or for any other player for that matter. I mean who expected Trac to behave the way he did last year or May / Melksham.

Egos make young people do silly unpredictable things.

or it could be utter BS

According to Goodwin the stories around Oliver are untrue. That makes the media truly irresponsible.

i don't understand how everyone including on here gets sucked into all the bs 🤦🤦

Goody was fantastic on 360, stuck up for Clarry and straight out stated how untrue all the media BS has been

Stick it up em Clarry!!

Weird how this thread is so busy when tom morris tweets but when some truth comes out, it’s very quiet

you know this for fact do you? we have had 3 leaders now come out and support clarry and hope hes back playing.... didnt realise you were a mind reader

x - free audience consumption

fox footy's 360 mag show - about 60k viewers, at most

i think the way that green and goodwin have handled this has been fantastic - green has always been forthright in his views communicated on x, and goodwin's comments are usually fairly pointed

Not sure you’re inviting someone you don’t want at your club over for a spa… or dinner with other teammates like Trac did yesterday.

But by all means, let’s keep spreading light and positivity 🙄

It's all such bs that it's fairly laughable. I took Clarry's 'who knows?' to the car park question as sh*t-stirring, just to get the media frothing a bit more.

Wow that’s a bit harsh, so I’ve got no idea & the likes of me hey!!!

all l said was he needs to knuckle down because he owes the club & that l love him & would hate him to leave.

You can apologise if you like, I’ve been a member since 1988 & allowed an opinion, we don’t all live in fairyland & think alike

You said…

“He’s 27yo & needs to grow up, knuckle down & get on with it”

THIS ATTITUDE IS WHY YOUNG MEN IN PARTICULAR DON’T SEEK HELP FOR THEIR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES!!!

It’s “Spud’s Game” tomorrow night. Think about it.

I’ve been trying to figure out why the media is so intent on picking on our club constantly.

There are obviously many reasons but I think this thread provides an example of another one—we have a shocking number of supporters who are clearly ready to throw our own people under the bus at a moment’s notice.

How about we “knuckle down” and get on with circling the wagons around our own, not paying attention to media vultures, and backing in a young man who has raised his hand to say he’s not alright.

Oh please!!!

So you can tell me that I’ve no idea & say “The likes of me” and all l say is that Clarry needs to grow up a bit & knuckle down

We may as well shut down Demonland if you think my comments were out of line

Sorry l forgot we have to tip toe around our elite performers when their output & behaviour has not been up to scratch for 2 seasons

You have no idea how mad other clubs supporters are. We are nothing compared to other clubs in terms of how low they are willing to stoop.

Anyone listening to Goody's press conference today would know that this whole thread is a waste of space. I just wish the trolls would stfu.

Maybe so, but dont be so ready to drink the cool-aid so easily. Members have a right to ask questions and not take everything at face value.

Like most, im more inclined to think this situation is a complete beat-up, however if you were to entertain for a minute that it isnt, what do you expect Simon or any other person in the club to say to the media? Do you honestly think that theywill come out and say yep Clarry is thinking of leaving or unhappy with TOG or anything other than the reasons that have been shared? Or for that matter if the club is not in the know AND Oliver's camp is leaking this stuff to soften the shock around an incoming trade request, do you honestly expect Oliver to come out and admit? I mean we are not school children here.

On the counter argument, things are also not that straight forward around why the media keep pursuing this if there isnt anything noteworthy - there are plenty of other stories in the media. What is the motivation driving every journo to push this story? is it really to further Geelong's agenda to pick up Oliver from the bargain bin? Does Tommy have a vendetta against Melbourne and pounces at any opportunity? Is McClure pursuing meida relevance and clicks? All of the above? we just dont know.

There is a great difference between playing a dead bat to questions at a press conference, which is what Goodwin should have done if there was an ounce of truth to the media beat up, and what Goodwin actually did, which was to say that there was no truth in these allegations. We have all read what ghostwriter has had to say about all of this and she clearly has a very good relationship with Oliver. Putting those things together, I think it is a whole media beat up where someone speculates and everyone builds on that. And I think that Goodwin has tried to put an end to it and an end should, indeed, be put to it.

Usually I’d agree and on this occasion you are probably right. Do you remember Goody and Pert last year? “Beat culture” type stuff. The club eroded a lot of trust through that debacle and the media absolutely feasted on it that is why I approach all MFC public comms with a degree of caution and healthy skepticism.

This.....If the stories were true Goodwin's response would have been "I'm not going to be drawn in to discussing articles written about Clayton, I've got a strong relationship.......blah blah blah, he didn't he categorically stated the articles weren't true. I mean it's from some pretty low life click baiters.

I've oscillated on Oliver over the journey. Hindsight says we probably trade him at the end of 23 when we'd have likely got 2 high picks and most of his salary covered. Now I'm in the keep him and keep building him camp. He's been through some pretty serious tumult over the last 3 years. He's clearly got the backing of his coach, captain and his team mates. He's still racking up good numbers whilst not being as damaging as he once was, although that 3rd quarter against Richmond was pretty damn good. He's only 27 so potentially has 6-7 more good years in him. He'll get fitter again this pre season and there's no reason his formline won't continue to improve over the next few years. I'm actually starting to think the club has done a phenomenal job supporting him and getting him back on the field. For all the [censored] the media has slung his and our way here's a kid fronting up to work day in day out working his backside off to help his team. It's a fair effort. You don't have to look very far to see just how badly it can turn out for stars of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
