Checking in on your thoughts about our heart and soul after another horrible performance? Thank god we have our heart and soul for another 3 years, absolutely blessed and a great list management decision.

Question back on to you here

Made up rumours are a great way to test who is leaking from a club.

The speech was actually Tracc asking why players were choosing the red bull cans over the plastic cups of Gatorade at half time.

I think from Tracy's perspective he has realised he is better off with the security of his current contract and knows the amount of work it would take to get a trade. And ultimately he is a Norm Smith medalist so we should be happy he is staying.

I think it's pretty obvious where all the leaks were coming from last season and why things have been far more quiet this year.

"Geelong attempted to pry Oliver away from the Demons last off-season including the three-time All-Australian midfielder visiting Rhys Stanley’s farm" Jay Clark said on Fox Footy’s The First Crack.

I think Chris Scott, Andrew Mackie and Patrick Dangerfield are going to invite Clayton Oliver back down to Rhys Stanley’s farm. Because he is still a missing link for the Geelong Football Club,”

Come play with us and you'll get a free farm like Rhys Stanley and it's all above board. I don't read replies or reactions

I saw this on First Crack last night and felt like punching the TV. Jay Clark is a diehard Geelong supporter, of course he’s gonna float the idea that (a) Geelong have one missing piece, and (b) Clarrie is the *only player who fits the bill.

Anyways, last year they didn’t approach Clarrie, he approached them. The relationship between Clarrie and the Club is entirely different now.

  • Clark didn’t say he believes Clarrie is the only player, but he didn’t mention anyone else.

I read this in an article today as well about him being the “missing link” of their midfield, but one you get through the click bait title, it clearly says “chief Herald Sun reporter thinks” lol.

Didn’t Clarry only approach them once he found out he was being shopped around? That’s what he said in an interview or something I read…

I don't think there is much trade value in Petracca or Oliver unfortunately due to their contracts being so big. Petracca might be worth a late first round pick in a poor draft and Oliver is a late pick only.

I think we need to move Oliver on to free our cap and inject some pace into the midfield. Langford is very slow and needs to be complimented by quicker midfielders.

I also don't think you want to be completely rebuilding because it can destroy your club like WCE and North.

Not sure where everyone is getting the “Langford is slow” card from. He was fifth overall in our game vs Richmond for fastest repeat sprints at distance.

I really enjoy First Crack but not sure why Jay Clark is on it. It's supposed to be a post round game analysis show. Surely there are enough footy shows where journos give us their hot takes already.

Anyway if Cats reckon Oliver completes them then they can probably do better than offering us a late first rounder in a compromised draft.

True, but we're talking about Geelong. They'll either get him for unders or they'll just move on.

He is 100% trying to push a Geelong narrative in the media. I love the way Kingy shut it down albeit on the basis that Clarry is unlikely to return to his former self and Geelong are better suited investing in their youth.

Aside from that, i really really want to know what is behind this notion that Oliver cannot return to his best. Many on here (myself included) seem to accept this - likely due to almost 2 years worth of below Oliver's known AFLCA level of performances.

i know he missed last years pre-season or a fare chunk of it, but surely that alone cannot account for what we are seeing. Is it understanding the new game plan or his ability to execute role? Goody did give him a reprieve at the start of the year and he is still playing 78% of game time.

I cant see why he doesnt play in the same way that Libba does. They are ultimately the same type of player.

I think Oliver's biggest issue right now is that he isn't fit enough. 78% game time is well below what he was doing at his best when it was 88% on average, also think he has lost a bit of pace and power. Doesn't explode out of contest like he used to. I'm not sure if there's a good reason why he couldn't get that fitness base back though.

Wasnt he flying this pre-season though? Surely the hammy tear in '23 isnt limiting his ability to explode from contest.

Perhaps its also confidence and willpower. maybe its all between the ears? He was non existent in the first Half, then came out like a man possessed in Q3 before tailing off again.

I'm 98% sure Jay Clark supports the Filth. He looks like the kind of fella that would.

Clayton can be a farmer whilst playing for us if he wants. He would have to buy his own land though.

Doesn't take much to get a good review during pre-season. He is clearly not as lean as he was when he was in career best form. He might be doing everything right when he's at the club but he may not be doing all the extra little things away from the club that he was doing a few years back.

He's been starting on the bench the past couple of weeks and losing minutes in the midfield to other players. He's down in the pecking order right now.

Absolutely, he is not fit enough, he needs that extra 1-2% of commitment.

He has improved on last year, but he can only play like “Clarry” in short bursts at the moment

He is slow off the mark, which is what really counts in Australian football.

If we're no longer looking to shop Clarry but Geelong still want him then they will have to cough up the picks or take on his full contract. We only have to accept unders surely if it's us that want to move him on.

I now have no doubt that Clayton will be at Jeelong in 2026 🤯🤮

He'll be the only bloke ever traded to Jeelong twice PF!

Yeah he really brings the show down a few notches. It’s supposed to be analysis, which he doesn’t offer. Instead, he chimes in with “that’s damning footage” every time they show any footage of anyone stuffing anything up in an attempt to make it sound like a massive story.

It of course then gets a run on the Fox or Herald Sun website the next day, so it works, but it annoys me.

I have it on good authority that the Geelong Football Club have asked Oliver to attend the unveiling of their new scoreboard and will honour him with cutting the ribbon on their Victorian taxpayer funded scoreboard.
