Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026

If a fair deal is Flanders and a first rounder, that means Flanders isn't that good.

Best reason I've heard so far for Trac choosing only interstate clubs!

And I would say very close to the truth especially for the eldest son a family with Italian heritage and married to a 'foreigner'.

Exactly. It was only ever gonna survive in the short term. Imo they (Tracc & Bella) did well to get this far without things coming to a head earlier. Two equally headstrong, uncompromising personalities; it’s like the clash of the titans.

Except that Christian is the youngest in the family.....

Minor detail😁

Wait until you realise Langford and Lindsay are OOC when Tassie are able to raid players from clubs 😬

I very much doubt that 😉😉😉

Bit of a sidebar but isn't this reportedly the situation with Jackson?

For the purpose of this dynamic he may as well be the firstborn son. What Luci said is spot on regardless of the order of birth. Tracc’s brothers’ partners are very different to Bella. Verrrrry different.

Straight swap for Wade Derksen.

Blimey derkson must be a fantastic player

How many games has he played in the last 3 years

And I’m not from an Italian family (although my wife is), but even youngest sons wives can clash with mother in laws.

I'm guessing it’s different in that Dogga doesn’t feel he has to choose between his partner and his mother 🤷‍♀️

The MFC should call the gold coast suns and just say plainly

"We will not approve any deal for Christian Petracca that does not include Sam Flanders or a better player"

Motivate them to get in his ear

Because ...as they're a bunch of nuff nuffs they wouldn't have conveyed this already ??

Not having a go at you but why do so many ppl believe so much 💩 that the media report ??

Many of these deals have existed as "hypotheticals " in the background on 'managers' folios for months. All this stuff gets preliminaried by clubs and players all through the year. Sure sometimes it is fishing, some with great sense of humour , but there are things that go on in the background.

It's not like overnight Tracc had considered leaving. It's not overnight we've developed an interest in Flanders.. It wasn't overnight McVee decided to fly the coop.

If ppl dont think clubs, managers, players DONT have informal, off the record chats/coffees/beers then you might be interested in a Bridge i have.

GC will already be very aware of who and what is at stake. It snowtown to horse haggling. Fortunately, imho, they as a club have been pretty fair dinkum to deal with.

Go us !!

Does Clarry make Jeelong, GWS or Mindless Ferals better?? DEFINATELY!

My theory is the Mitch Cleary baiting Clarry is to lower the trade price for the Cats, as the media will run ad nauseum that Clarry is not worth anything due to his behaviour.

Dermot Brereton... urghh!

Indeed ... surprised he hasn't joined Newman's podcast ... i.e. he already has Carey & Nixon.

Not sure being of Italian heritage or his wife not being Italian has anything to do with it. From personal experience (but the other way around) my in-laws were ecstatic to 'add' to the family, regardless of not being italian blood. I know heaps of European background families that are similar.

But each to their own perspective

it would not surprise me in the least if in 3-4 seasons time, either the year before or the year of his contract coming to a close, there's a lot of 'noise' around trac pushing to 'come home' to a vic-based club

Bro doesn’t get it.

It’s [censored] hard to go watch a team that can’t hit a simple chest mark, or mark one.

It’s hard to watch a team consistently kick more points than goals.

It’s hard to see 7.21.

It’s hard

To see a team which has the highest loss of 47 points in final quarter of all time.

Again, thinks it’s all about him.

If you’re lamenting the possible loss of Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver, consider this:-

• on Saturday, 17 August 2024, at People First Stadium, Carrara, Melbourne scored 18.9.117, defeating the Gold Coast Suns, who scored 9.9.63. Neither Petracca nor Oliver participated in that game.

• on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at People First Stadium, Carrara, Melbourne scored 12.13.85, losing to the Gold Coast Suns, who scored 15.14.104. Both Petracca (32 possessions) and Oliver (24) participated in that game.

Make of that what you will.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
