My god the hypocrisy from the media is beyond embarrassing.

It's obvious that the clubs are getting sick of them and starting to call out their BS.

I also think supporters are sick of them as well, at least I hope they are. I no longer watch or listen to any AFL based content as a way of showing my disproval of the way they operate. I hope more and more supporters follow as it is the only way we can get a change from these parasites.

I don't think he needs to change. He wears his heart on his sleeve, I don't mind that from our president. A bit like an Eddie McGuire but without the 'accidental' racism...

I am not sure that Brad Green intentionally changed the direction of the media or not but on Classified last night Hird went at Green and Clarry was all but forgotten. McGuire went at the club for not embracing the journalist Joel Kennedy.

A shame on Hird's part as he knows what it is like to have "issues".

What a footy show it is. Rory Sloane may not even be there because as goes to speak either McGuire or Hird shut him down.

This unfounded media sensationalism has to stop before someone is hurt.

Got to love Eddie acting like he wouldn't do similar things to stand up for Collingwood players...

James Hird has also just become another mouth piece for the media machine.... it's a sad world we live in.

So just so we're clear.

  1. Player takes time off for mental health

  2. Media write 132 stories about said player

  3. President says leave him alone

  4. Media criticize President for criticizing media

  5. Media then promote Spud's Game, a game aimed at bringing awareness/funds towards mental health.

Got it.

@roy11 well said.

It’s hypocrisy of the highest order.

They pretend to care then pile on the vitriol. I support Brad Green in his comments.

Standing Ovation Applause GIF by The Maury Show

And Jay Clark extorts volume about the Cats culture. How Oliver can be like Bailey Smith? Cats culture !! Jack Steven, Tyson Stengle, Tanner Bruhn. Three bad examples all seemingly forgotten. Phoenix Foster said many young players at Cats are alienated from the elite class. Nothing said.

Just when you think the depths have been plumbed they find another lower level.

Like Eddie was not way worse when Pies president. Show should be called Floggy Classified.

I used to love footy classified, it’s now unwatchable

The best description I have heard of Kane Cornes and those of his ilk is "flame thrower".

It's attention-seeking behaviour that's all about the clicks and outrage.

With that in mind, I don't know why anybody would take these gutter journalists seriously or, indeed, pay them any attention at all.

And Willie Rioli??

as usual I implore people to reverse the roles and see whether there would be outrage

Imagine if bailey Dale threatened Rioli in such a manner

Look boys, let's sort this out. We can't keep picking on the Sports Media without knowing what precisely are their academic qualifications.

I'll start.....

I'll finish.

When will the media go hard on Tanner Bruhn...why wasn't the AFL media interested in Stengle and his 'missteps' (only not calling it what it was as I don't wish to land this platform in strife) at a Geelong nightclub. Why is Bailey Smith, a man caught doing coke, championed as an AFL poster boy and allowed to flip the bird and carry on as he wishes with only applause from the media, whilst Clarry is constantly targeted. It's about time clubs stood up. I like the response from both North and Melbourne. Fans have had a gutful. Always a good news story for Collingwood. The media after the Maynard hit were quick to defend him...we had media looking to hang Melksham for taking a mark last week. Kozzie is a sniper...Dangerfield is just clumsy. It has reached the point where you just have to turn off 90% of AFL media programs. Craig Hutchison has a lot to answer for...he has driven the soap opera style of AFL journalism.

I like the show but I'm not a fan of the Tuesday show because it feels like Eddie talking non stop for an hour

I have no idea what Bruhn has done but it’s clearly serious given the suppression order in place . I wait with bated breath what the Cats do when it becomes public knowledge and how the media react particularly if he is found guilty by the courts.

I watched the other night, and Sam was so rude to Loyde, who does Sam think he is ? and how does Loyde keep his cool so well ?

Academic qualifications are no guarantee of anything. I'd argue the reverse these days.

Before Journalism was a degree course you studied on the job, overseen by a curmudgeonly old Editor with a withering tongue. They were definitely better days

I don't understand the Bruhn scenario. If charges have been laid why is there no discussion of it? I get you can't disclose the complainant in such cases and if no charges are laid then speculation is not appropriate...

It's an open secret as it stands.

Is there actually a suppression order in place? I've not seen anything about it apart from hearsay on socials.

I have no idea why people watch AFL media. They are like legacy media. Increasingly hysterical and hyperbolic as they desperately fight for attention in a media landscape that is fracturing.

If you don't like what's being said or disagree with it, don't watch it, and they become increasingly irrelevant.

Are you suggesting there is no outrage over what Willie Rioli has done?

But not in the Media, or at his club he should be suspended by the AFL and His club. Totally unacceptable behaviour.

Plenty in the media have gone quite hard on him as well as the AFL for their horrible response.

In fact I would say that's been the prevailing view.

As a matter of interest, does anyone believe flipping the bird is offensive? If not, why are players being fined for doing it?

Agree LDvC seems a bit harsh for something so trivial, a censure would be sufficient, most people seem to think it is amusing. 😁

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
