Missed the boat yesterday by playing a completely out of form Blake Howes instead of Jed Adams.

Would have been perfect replacement for Lever.

Thought Howes was okay, and Howes plays a different role to lockdown. Might have worked though.

I've been a staunch supporter of Howes but after the North game the idea to bring him back him after he was dropped due to poor form was absolutely mind boggling.

Having watched the full replay this morning, I can't say I agree with you that he was okay. For a guy that isn't a lock down defender, he had 9 disposals, 1 mark and 3 turnovers for the game. I'm not exactly sure what he adds down back.

He looks completely bereft of confidence and I feel like with each game his confidence gets zapped out of him.

Adams would have at least taken a Walters or Read and maybe that releases Petty or McDonald a bit more. I don't know, but right now Howes isn't working down back.

We need to get games into Adam’s this year, the sooner the better in my view.

Yep. I’d start rolling all the AFL listed players through. Give them a block of 2-3 games, not as sub and see what we have in the cupboard. Verral, Brown, Sestan, Laurie (a decent crack), Adam’s, Fullarton.

Absolutely

Haven't seen the game but Pup Brown had 11 tackles.

That takes effort and something we are crying out for is some pressure on the ball carrier.

I hope he is rewarded. Surely he could be no worse than several blokes that played yesterday

Kynan's issue is poor disposal. If he fixes that, he's in!

I thought poor disposal was a pre requisite to be in the seniors lol....😏

Howes played really good footy for Sandy Dragons AND Casey as a wing/half forward. He’s a capable goalkicker. I’d like to see him put back to Casey next year and adopt that role. Try to slot him back into MFC as a taller half forward. The role as a last line defender is not his go in my view.

Yep.

Have been advocating for this for a while now. His forward craft is very similar to Jack Gunston.

We are screaming for natural forwards, give it a shot i says.. Nothing to lose.

Still no Roy George.

As many of us thought he might be a possibility for the mid season AFL draft his absence is curious.

We left a few goals on the table in the second half but luckily so did GCS.

I see Turner as the forward and Lever when unavailable reserve. Until Jefferson can demand a spot he should be in the AFL team.

Better execution of the gameplan but a long way to go. Too many stray kicks and handballs at present but way better than the hug the boundary approach of old

Been saying the same.

Not sure about the next year at Casey comment though.

@Redleg yes re Blake Howes … I meant back to Casey next week and adopt the taller HFF role

Tbh, I think Fritta needs a Casey game more than Howes and I would keep him in the 23 and play him mid/forward.

He could even be the sub this week.

Unless I'm mistaken, Sestan didn't play as he was held over as our emergency?

Great to see Turner doing well, as much as anything because what it says about his attitude and the internal messaging from the coaches.

Langford made some interesting comments re being dropped after his first game and how the coaches helped him to see it as a possibility to work on what he needed to and as a positive.

Similar re Turner it seems, and presumably most of the AFL-listed players. Adams, even Fullarton are stepping up, Laurie with his 30 possessions when he could just give up in response to being in/out of the team etc. etc.

Sure, the Dees are looking lost at the moment, but seeing what's going on at Casey there's lots to like, the coaches seem to be doing what they need to.

Interesting they take Knobel when then have Witts, Moyle and Read.

Them maybe they won’t press hard for White?
