Shocked that Geelong are getting the rub of the green

What is wrong with Freo? They look second rate, bottom 4 stuff.

umpiring so far this round has been a complete joke.

So Fremantle are the GOAT when they play against us and completely useless every other week. Seems fair.

Another year of Cats being good. Can’t wait.

Great first 1/4 for the year for Luke.

Kicks:  0

Marks:  0

H'balls:   2

At least he's breaking even on hitouts with part-timer SDK I guess.

I have some $$$ to make the 8. Dont let me down.

Don't knock Kayo.

Thursday nights now with Hamish makes Ch 7 unwatchable.  There's only so many times you can use the word 'unbelievable' in a broadcast.  Someone get Hamish a thesaurus please.

Mrs Redleg after that disgraceful free and goal to Danger, just called the umpires cheats. Cox was not given a second and the ball was behind him between Danger’s legs. Commentators also too scared of losing their fat contracts to call what they are seeing.

I told her that the umpires are at least consistent. Geelong has had the umpiring their way at that ground for 125 years.

What about Dangers ‘one handed handball’ l a few moments earlier.

I know it's the Cats but I wouldn't be overly disappointed if Freo get pummelled today.

I’ve been watching the cats V Freo for 20 minutes - And I don’t think there has been any foot skills worth mentioning at all.

Freo simply cannot hit a target unless they are 20m clear.

Cats are applying some pressure, but nowhere near the past couple of nights.

Yes saw that.

Dempsey just dropped it and play on then Stengle throws it and play on and then 3rd or 4th free kick goal to Cats.

This is as bad umpiring as you will see.

Agree with Mrs Redleg. Commentators too gutless to call out obvious umpire cheating.

Can someone explain the appeal of going to freo, they are perennial underachievers. If they were a Victorian team they would be like the saints

How many throws have been let go so far this round?

It's nuts.

I hate the bloke, but Chris Scott will go down as one of the best coaches of all time.

He has picked the Freo game plan apart and made them look 2nd rate.

If I was still playing.
When standing the mark, close to goal, Iike Stengel just kicked.
I would wait until the last minute, and then rush at the player about to kick, and flatten them.

Probably give away a 50m.

Might get a report – unlikely.

But players would always be nervous if you were on the mark.

If there was no prior opportunity then incorrect disposal doesn’t come into play

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
