Little Goffy 14,957 Posted Friday at 10:56 Posted Friday at 10:56 Feel like Hawthorn got a reprieve there with the change of weather. If a team works hard defensively and earns a turnover, Hawthorn can be exposed on the rebound if you go hard right away. Nick Blakey telling the story with 6 intercepts and almost 700m gained at 3/4 time, and a lot of both those stats were built after the Swans began to get their harassment act together. 2 Quote

The name stuck. good to know I might be getting old (true) but I can’t remember him referred as such in his first AFL season If he was, I would think that is premature and I would not have been a fan of that. Let kids establish themselves first i reckon 2 Quote
Demonstone 23,562 Posted Friday at 10:58 Posted Friday at 10:58 So we've got a Wizard and a Lizard playing tonight and more than one King running around. All we need now is a Gizzard to get the band back together again. 2 1 3 Quote

Was watching the game and enjoying the new dimension of rain before it fi ally clicked that I live down the road from the SCG and I rushed off to collect my newly wet washing 😅 2 Quote
Ghostwriter 5,448 Posted Friday at 11:14 Posted Friday at 11:14 Ugh I just remembered why I don’t like the NON-MFC threads. I mean, I do like them, I very much like them, but I can’t stand the “I hope the MFC are watching/learning from this!” finger-wagging type of comments. What part of NON do folks not understand? Personally I like watching matches that don’t involve us coz it’s nice to breathe during a game 😅 Anyways, end of rant. Thanks for listening (even though you had no choice 🤭) 6 1 1 Quote
Maldonboy38 6,435 Posted Friday at 11:16 Posted Friday at 11:16 (edited) It has always been so difficult to get a clear read on the quality of football at the postage stamp that is the SCG. The Swans v Hawks game has been quick and intense with lots of pressure plays, but little of the game style transfers to most other grounds. Both teams look OK, and it looks like the old fashioned "utility" player has had a field day. Edited Friday at 11:17 by Maldonboy38 3 Quote

GS_1905 343 Posted Friday at 11:17 Posted Friday at 11:17 (edited) Geez the hawks have got some cheap frees tonight. Having said that Swans will struggle this year. Edited Friday at 11:18 by GS_1905 4 Quote

DubDee 26,674 Posted Friday at 11:23 Posted Friday at 11:23 There was a crazy stat on AFL360 that every team that has been beaten by more than 6 goals in a GF has done poorly the next year. Not one had won a final the next year and about half had missed finals completely! crazy! 5 Quote
dees189227 12,509 Posted Friday at 11:25 Posted Friday at 11:25 Gee Tom barrass wouldn't know the feeling winning in r1 coming from west coast. Well at least the season has finally started 1 Quote
Diamond_Jim 12,772 Posted Friday at 11:26 Posted Friday at 11:26 Must say I've been happy with the non colour clash of jumpers on TV but that chocolate hawthorn jumper... Even an orange V might have helped save it fashion wise 1 Quote

They’re there. I didn’t wanna quote anyone coz I’m so not up for a bunfight (whatever that is). Granted, there’s not as many as usual but they’ll come as the weeks go by. As sure as the sun rises in the east etc. they’ll come. ☹️ edit: I just dictionary.com-ed Bunfight. I prefer its synonyms: free-for-all and rough-and-tumble. They almost sound like fun 🤩 Edited Friday at 11:36 by Ghostwriter 2 Quote

Just goes to show it’s not as important to have superstars in your forward line. Disagree. Both teams have some pretty handy players in their forward lines. Quote
