I saw enough from him to want to give him more opportunities.

It's little wonder JT had his eye on him for a while.

He is ready made, highly skilled, great work rate and hungry.

You can't ask or get better than that.

Great pick up along with his Werribee team mate AJ.

Clean player with a good bit of agility and pace. Got caught out of position a bit on defensive transition but not unexpected for his first game.

Deserves more opportunity but will face a bit of competition with Spargo and Tholstrup once they return from their respective injuries.

That competition for spots will be great.

If Spargo can get back to his best, I'd certainly see him as the closeset competition to Henderson, but no doubt Tholstrup will also heat things up as he matures and gains in confidence.  Hendo looks to have that maturity, hardness and composure to play at the top level already sorted.

If only he didn't slightly overcook that pass around the 25 second mark, it would have been the perfect centring kick and forward 50 entry.

Still great signs for me that he had the skills and awareness to make space for himself at half forward and then lower the eyes to hit up a great leading option and not just chip it deep into the pocket to get bottled up or a low percentage shot on goal.

Also took whoever it was to be making the lead straight down the ground giving the option.  Noticed that Jefferson provided that several times for us and hopefully it is team directive in our game plan over the pre-season marking an improvement in how we move the ball into forward 50.

Pretty disappointing after a reasonable debut. Seems to lack aggression, can't stay on his feet and is hesitant in his decision making.

I think he's still a decent squad based player, but hard to tell given everyone has been a bit toilet.

Yeah I think it’s time he goes to Casey. If you’re getting 4 touches a game as a small forward you’d be wanting to impact the scoreboard, but he had 0 score involvements and was correctly subbed out.

We need to get some height into our forward line. The likes of Spargo, Sharp and Henderson aren’t giving us much.

Another to add to the large bucket of small forwards who can't score goals consistently. Can't have 4 of them in your team every week.

I'm not sure what his point of difference is that will allow him to be a quality AFL player. He hasn't kicked or assisted on a goal in the past three weeks, so is basically a passenger at this point.

He isn't quick, he is shorter than ideal, doesn't apply great tackle pressure, doesn't kick goals, doesn't win his own football.

Basically another Spargo, and we already have one more of those than is required.

some harsh comments here. first 4 games playing AFL were decent. had a quiet one on the weekend. so be it. looks a good user and given our shizen running patterns, its not a bad start.

having said that he and spargo shouldnt both be playing with Kozzie and Chandler in the side. id keep him in and drop Spargo.

Spargo had 2 GAs on the weekend. I'm happy for Hendo to be his understudy at present.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
