Tomo at North training yesterday, set to trial for their VFL team maybe?

Yes Tommo has signed with North’s VFL side. Which brings up yet another opportunity to remind folks that Casey will be playing North in a practice match following our Seniors’ practice match at Arden St. on Saturday Feb. 22nd, the VFL match to commence at 2pm.

If you’re planning on attending, would be great to stay around for the second match to give our Casey boys some love. ❤️💙

Hi KC

who are the Casey team for these matches? Does it include MFC listed players.

Thanks

On Wednesday, at Gosch's training, a large group of players joined the AFL group before training, for a large photo-op. I wasn't close, but I assume they were Casey-listed (or nominated) players. There were certainly enough of them to field a full side for a practice match. Whether AFL listed players play in these VFL matches might be a function of the AFL games' formats - do they allow 28 (or more) players to rotate? - in which case only those that don't get a run might play VFL (might not be many in our case given the high absentee list recently). I would expect the Casey coach also wants to get a look at his own full squad in action to know who his core group will be.

On 19/12/2024 at 10:58, KC from Casey said:

Paul Amy has updated his article to include additional players signed since it first appeared:-

Riley Bonner

What a boost for the Casey backline. Bonner played 19 AFL games for St Kilda in 2024, taking his tally to 112 in a career that began at Port Adelaide in 2016. "His exceptional kicking ability and football IQ will be invaluable in providing drive off the backline," the Demons said after signing Bonner, who will take up a role in Melbourne's NGA.

Mitch Hardie

Former South Australian Hardie, 27, is a superb addition to the Demons. His efforts for Geelong's VFL team last season were exemplary, winning the best and fairest after averaging 29 disposals per game (he had 20 or more in all 19 of his matches). Unsurprisingly, he was a VFL team-of-the-year pick.

Mitch Kirkwood-Scott

The sweet-kicking defender was part of the 2024 Sandringham Dragons premiership team, having 21 possessions and 10 marks in the grand final. The former Haileybury College captain averaged 16.8 disposals from 13 Talent League appearances.

Another update includes the following -

Jesse Craven, Casey Demons

Craven, from Tooradin-Dalmore, won Gippsland Power's best and fairest last season as a 19-year-old player and also made his VFL debut for the Demons. "He was the first bloke picked in our side last year. Heart and soul, competitive, tough, does everything right," Power talent manager Scotty McDougal told CODE Sports.

Jenson Garnham, Casey Demons

Jenson Garnham has been a prominent goalkicker for Leongatha in the past two seasons, kicking 53 goals and being named at full-forward in the Gippsland league team of the year in 2024 and slotting 52 goals in the premiership year of 2023. He had played with Gippsland Power in 2022. Leongatha coach Trent McMicking said Garnham was an exciting prospect. "I'm not sure where the limit is for him. I don't know how good he can be," he said.

"He attacks the footy hard, he's a really good mark and he's a neat kick for goal. He has a basketball background and he didn't really play much footy until he was 16, 17. He's super-raw but he's got plenty of ability."

Noah Yze, Casey Demons

The son of Richmond coach Adem had two VFL games for Casey last season, as well as 11 for the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League. He's a 190cm forward with sharp skills and a team-first approach.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
