Can you name an Italian island that is also a mild insult and a Hawthorn captain?

I replied - don’t be Sicily

Did the fox commentators say that Hinkley was having a crack at Ginnivan first?

Totally baffled by the umpiring shambles tonight.

Such a shame.  The Hawks were having such a Goodyear, too.

Fork me!

Could Hodgey possibly barrack any harder for the hawks on the last quarter? Including gobbing off the port players and coach?

I have never respected Hinkley. Tonight he again showed his lack of class. I didn't think I could like him less, but has he sunk to a low that will be hard for anyone to match. F*wit!

I think telling Ginnivan “he won’t be flying “ …

Come on man, can't you just enjoy the schadenfreude like the rest of us?

Add that game the many thousands of VFL/AFL games before where a team makes a match out of it purely by playing with high intensity. Hawks have a history of over achieving and it's because there are no excuses...just go hell for leather when you're on the big stage. Bog ordinary team representing a club with a culture of competing.

People bemoan why no one wants to watch us play...it has less to do with the game style and more to do with the fact that we just don't compete as hard as these successful clubs. It showed up time and time again (including finals). That's what people want to watch. It's not up to the president. It's not up to the CEO. It's not up to the fitness guy and that part shouldn't come down to the coach. It's the players.

I hate Sicily as much as the next person, but it’s a terrible look for a coach to be sticking it to opposition players. Just get on with it Kenny. You’re not even a good coach, don’t embarrass yourself any further.

Ken needs to shut up. He’s achieved nothing for Port and probably never will.

Nope. I commend him for it. Ginnivan was completely out of line. Had it coming.

Listening to Sam have a sook in the presser… Chris Scott gonna have some competition.

Pretty much confirmed that he had a crack first… very embarrassing stuff

Don’t mind Sam Mitchell, but please lose the top front veneers.

Good on James Sicily. He may not have have much to do with Hokball but good to see him stand up for his younger players.

True leadership.

Yeah, nah. One is 21yo texting a former team-mate, the other is a 57yo showing the world what he truly is. The sooner he is sacked, the better.

So what …good on him for standing up for Ginnivan?  ..is it ok for a Ginnivan to be  a “me me” player and dish it out but he certainly doesn’t take it. Probably shouldn’t have been the oppo coach but so glad someone gave it back to him !

hinkley has history with behaving like a goose

he is, after all, just another former footballer at the end of the day

Ginnivan is a petulant child. He is in fact a child. He’s 21. If Rozee gave it to him sure, fine. Not great form but whatever.
Hinkley is a senior coach. He’s old enough to be his dad. He should know better and do better than to let some kid get under his skin for gods sake. I would be so disappointed if Goody ever did that.

Yeah it's great stuff from KH. A guy twice the age of the guy he's putting in his place.

His team just put in a 4 quarter effort when they really needed to but instead of congratulating the boys on a job well done, let's get our head on camera and pick a fight with some Hawthorn youngsters.

It's loser coach stuff and if the Swans were even remotely arrogant (which they aren't) they would mimic this celebration when they take care of Port comfortably.

Since when is 21 a child!!!

It’s not Ginnis first rodeo. He has form. Tonight was a good reminder why you need to respect your opposition.
in the end it is probably what was the difference.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
