I really, really like what Riv brings to the team. His potential for further growth is a key for us challenging in 2025.

I expect that he has been promised a full time midfield role next year. If so, i'm hopeful it'll give him a huge up for a good off-season and massive pre-season. His time on ground %'s dropped in the back half of the year, perhaps showing he didn't quite have the tank required for midfield. I back him to get there and think he could be a huge difference maker for us.

A midfield ready Rivers and a fit Oliver - suddenly we have a scary midfield again, and can leave Trac to spend more time forward kicking bags.

Absolutely love Riv, he will be with us for a long time, can’t believe the Rubbish people put up every time we get something positive on our site. Or am I becoming to Sensitive. Grrrrr….!!!!!

Thanks Jaded. With Gus gone, Riv is now my fav player.

Can we all just remember to NOT take things like this as gospel. Surely we’ve all learned by now. Tracc was going, Kozzie was going, Vines was off to North, remember? Even if some of the regulars (eg Cornes, Morris and other so-called journalists) jump all over this one, let’s not take the bait.

On a personal level, I had a 14yo member of the DA call me the other day in tears. She adores Kozzie and was heartbroken to hear he wants to leave us. This is yet another reason why I can’t stand these people who propagate rumours and try passing them off as legit news.

edit: I’m referring to the Riv Wants Out story above. NOT the awesome Riv video from the MFC site.

Riv is a likeable/lovable young fella!

Humble, and a gun of a footballer. He will only bet better too.

Good times ahead with this type of young man at the club.

I don't think anyone's taking it as gospel, and the fact that even the bigger names haven't dropped something similar speaks volumes as to how credible it is.

Of course other clubs are interested. They want to make up for picking every other player besides Rivers between #20 and #30 in the 2019 draft.

This X account is running at a 1% strike rate

It previously said that Bont wants out, Darcy won’t re-sign with Freo and various other utter garbage.

According to their bio they’re an ex AFL player agent.
Also I’m a unicorn 🙄

If it ain’t credible, why post it?

I posted it with exclamation marks. Perhaps too subtle.

But the one point in it that was interesting and perhaps more credible was that Collingwood were interested in him last year when he re-signed. That he did reconfirm to us says something about both him and the club, we sometimes take these re-signings for granted.

Looking at the Twitter feed, Bont and Darcy are both looking to leave the dogs.

In other words, this is just cr.p.

There’ll always be folks who believe exactly what they read no matter where it comes from. Also, 14yo kids have yet to learn the difference between what’s credible and what’s not.

Young gun, who could walk into any club in the AFL, recommits  to the club for 4 more years  - club's in crisis!

Meanwhile at tiger land three of their best five players at the peak of their powers all leave - move along nothing to see here!

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
