Really don’t see pick 5 going on the trading block.

Given we currently hold Swan’s 2nd round and a further 2 3rd picks, we’re well placed to target Brisbane’s (currently) pick 14 or GC’s pick 13. Brisbane’s pick will def get swallowed up by Ashcroft bid and their next pick is after the 3rd rd pick we got from the Dogs.

They will trade that pick 14 for points and possibly a future 1st.

Lombard touch and go to be bid on before GC’s pick from the Dogs (currently 13).

There’s a pathway for us to take two first rd picks to the draft along with whatever we get back from Adelaide for ANB (or keep p5 and still have good assets to trade).

Slated to go in that 5-9 range, but if he plays like this through Coates finals, will go higher.

He’s a very JT style of player and I suspect we’d pick him if available, however I’m dubious that he’ll be available at pick 5 TBH.

Sam Lalor is the type of midfield talent you can build a team around. Tough, aggressive and ability to score when resting up forward.

Lalor adds some much needed midfield talent and depth.

That's not Sam Lalor, that's Cam Rayner.

Absolutely not. We need an A grader that is ready to play. You don’t get them with picks 10 and 14 as we have been attempting

My thoughts on a trade would be if Richmond got picks 9/17 from freo for baker/bolton. Or trading with freo so they could secure from Richmond. Using Cal Twomeys phantom as a guide, I rate Lalor every bit as highly (to our needs) as Murphy Reid, and an additional player like Xavier Lindsay with skills would be an amazing boost.

I like the mongrel in him, and winning contested possessions, seems strong. My only concern was his highlights reel show a lot of kicks missing targets, might just be a composure aspect right now.

And a lot of handballs. We need elite users of the ball by foot. Speed to boot would be a massive plus.

This is my vote, wouldn't be surprised if he's gone before our pick.

I really like Lalor (187cm), but I also really like Hynes (190cm) for similar reasons. Good around stoppages and a really powerful mark.

Lalor is about 7cm shorter than Cripps.

He reminds me so much of a more explosive Shaun Higgins around stoppage.

Is North a chance to downgrade from #2? There would be some pressure on them to look beyond the midfield now right? That would probably mean our #5 and F1 to get up to #2 (I'm guessing the industry, rather than our fan-base, would estimate that as around #14 next year). Plus a handshake on who we won't take. Not my proposed trade, just curious.

For everyone worried, this is one game. Not a highlights package like you’d normally see. I saw a similar package of Nate caddy last year where he dropped every mark and fumbled ground balls. Couldn’t believe how bad his ‘highlights’ were.

Sam Lalor - is a Dusty Martin/Cam Rayner type.  Likes physical style of play but also has the skills and decision making to support his top 5 status. Midfield - forward type.

Harvey Langford - plays like the Bont. 190cms. Bigger midfielder. Contested ball runner.  Can mark forward and hit the scoreboard.   Long left foot.  Can hit targets but not elite skills.

Xavier Lindsay - plays like Josh Kelly.  Midfielder/half back. Elite left foot kick. Slightly built but excellent step and evasive skills. Can play inside but likely outside running mid in AFL. Love to see him in red and blue next year.

@spirit of norm smith what would you do if you were Lamb and Taylor all rolled into one?

Huge question.

Firstly speak to Goody to get his thoughts. Listen.
Then I’m saying, doesn’t matter who we draft in , the current crop needs to be better.
I’m getting the players improving skills over the summer.  Running and kicking.  Running and kicking. Speed on the footy.  Dees were rank 16th for disposal efficiency - ranked 3rd highest in turnovers.  Work on contest and clearance too.

Not trading pick 5.  (Sorry no to any Dan Houston deal).

Get picks 25 & 42 for ANB off the crows.
Keep 25.

Package 42.45,51 & future 4th pick to Suns for pick 20.

Have 5, 20,25, 61 in draft ( Three high quality picks 5 Langford/Lalor, 20 Moraes/ Gross/ Hynes, 25 Dattoli/Oliver, and a JT special at 61.  Maybe a “best in VFL” at pick 61 as a mature type player to bring in.
Also then pickup Noah Yze CAT A father son &  Ricky Mentha NGA CAT B in rookie draft ) .

Of course the equations all change if the Petracca debacle ends in him leaving.

Really hope our list management team (Tim Lamb and co.) could pull off a bit of a draft coup for 2024.

Along with pick 5# if we could get another 1 or 2 picks in the top 15 of this year's draft that will definitely set us up for the future.

Alot will depend if we can do a deal to give points to Gold Coast. Especially as they need points for Leonardo Lombard. Take pick #6 and/or #13 would be pretty handy.

I am also a fan of Xavier Lindsay.

Here is a highlights video for those interested.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie
