I’m just throwing it out there as part of the discussion. Maybe the Pies come at us with Quaynor, their first this year and next. Deals get done, the world moves on. Obviously I find him leaving unlikely but not impossible and I enjoy the discussion

If Port want 2 first rounders then we should be asking for 3. However, there’s no way he’s going to be playing for Collingwood. He’d also be delusional to think if they’ve got any success coming soon. They’ve got the oldest list in the league and will probably bottom out next year or the year after.

They don't have a first this year, and if Trac goes there, their first next year might not be very good. And no offense to Quaynor but I am not trading a top 5 AFL player for a good half back flanker.

Look I understand the want to discuss this, but when the club and Goodwin both said we are not trading him, you better believe they are not trading him, because his discontent is not news (it's only news to us in the public), and the media release was not sent out without his consent either.

If we don't back ourselves as a club to resolve this situation with one of the best players in the league, who committed to our club for 7 whole years, then we may as well turn off the lights and lock the doors and call it a day as a football club.

Does not get it done for mine. If he does request a trade Dees have to be clear to his management  that to trade Christian they need to find a club prepared to meet our valuation and that future picks will not be entertained as their value is too fluid.  And that a team like North are more likely to be able to meet that valuation than a team like Collingwood.

So you have a coach criticizing umpires, calling his players losers, missing finals, commenting on contracted players and yet no media pile on. Not even a question on their culture. They must do one hell of a job controlling the narrative down there as i could imagine they are likely going through the same issues we are.

I know Goodwin is all about business, but his media profile needs some work. He could take a leaf out of Gawn's book and learn to get on with the media. His absence no doubt from all FoxFooty non-mandatory commitments has likely contributed to magnitude of this pile-on.

This is an insane post and symptomatic of a particular section of our fanbase that is legitimately living in an alternate reality.

Trac was our best player in the 2021 finals, not only was he literally BOG in the GF but he also was at worst our 2nd player in the prelim win over the Cats. He then played a finals series with a broken leg in 2022. You're telling me Trac isn't the one who is connected to the club? The guy who was crying after we beat the Cats in 2021? Meanwhile your 'hero' Oliver wanted a trade end of 2020 because he cracked the [censored] at not placing higher in the B&F, then proceeded to completely go off the rails last year and put a massive spotlight on the club (I'm not even mentioning his terrible form this year).

I'd be shattered if Trac left but I can't blame him for being upset - not only over the handling of his injury, but the complete lack of standards in player selection, teammates taking the [censored] off the field etc. The sooner our fanbase wakes up to how much of a hole the club is in (Due to our own doing) the better.

That's all fine but sort it out behind closed doors, don't dump a ton of chook manure at the clubs front door, you're getting paid 1 mil a year to play for them.

Seriously why cant we take the club at face value. Trac has been traumatised is a bit out of sorts and has a lot of work to regain his physical status back as well as his emotional stability.

But for a bit of fun if you wanted a swap maybe Mr King at St Kilda. Prior to his shoulder op he looked disinterested and dispirited playing in the saints forward line. Haven't heard a peep out of St Kilda. Papley wanted out of Sydney a few years ago and carlton could get him. Look at the situation now. Keep calm and let it sort itself out

Spot on, he has a lot to answer for, he’s acting like a spoilt brat.

To many people giving advice, Mum & Dad need to understand he’s grown man

This is fair, but having things spill out in public like this and Tracc nor the club conclusively dispelling the notion that Tracc wants to leave, is damaging to the club, coming into a trade period and every passing moment it isn’t countered, is another moment it becomes true.

It’s now 3 days and it’s obvious it’s true he wants to leave unless MFC has THE WORST public relations department in the world and/or Tracc just forgot to address it somehow.

Haven’t heard OX’s claims about players getting ‘up to no good’ during preseason being countered by anyone so that’s obviously true too.

This 100%

Trac is within his rights to be upset or unhappy with the direction of the club or the handling of his injury. But to play it out so publicly at the expense of the club that made him the highly paid star that he is, is simply immature and selfish.

Either he thinks that if he does enough damage we will relent and trade him, or he’s simply more worried about his own brand than the club’s.

I suspect that in time he will regret the way he’s handled it.

I don’t think Tracc wants to leave at all, he has given the Club a Rocket to get its act together

This has all been festering (multiple issues) for a long time.
The Decks have got to be cleared, we need a change of some philosophies within The Football Department

I maybe in the minority, but i am quietly happy it has come out. I hope the Review is thorough and fair. We have got to get better

The guys at the Deebrief may have some connections with Petraccas brother, the one that is a player agent.

I wonder if they know something...🧐

If we look hard enough BoBo and ElDiablo we will find something that suits our needs, doesn’t matter what the club says or does, it’s all spin and bs according to those that want to help undermine our great club. I remember very Cleary when I was much younger and in a middle management role we went through a massive reorganisation and down sizing exercise when a senior manager that I respected said- It is hard to keep your head when all around you are losing theirs. Very sage advice indeed.

Also to @DeeZone, so I’ll take both of your comments at face value as being true.

Gawn and MFC have only said he is *contracted* to play for the dees. This is a politician’s answer.

What Tracc wants and what his contract status is, are two seperate things.

What is the reason it has been 3 days and the claim that Tracc *wants* to leave, hasn’t been directly challenged as being untrue?

But he is not leaving, that’s the point.
He is telling the Club to get better.

100% agree and I’m glad it’s come out. By all means, I’m not happy it’s got to this point, but obviously there is some disagreements and discussions been going on behind closed doors and nothing has come of it.

I think it’s a way to get the clubs attention to get its [censored] together. He may be frustrated but the part of him wanting to be traded could be just some mayo added by the media to create a few more clicks.

I’m not saying he is leaving either, I’m saying it’s concerning that he (nor the club) hasn’t come out saying ‘I still want to play for the Dees, the claim I want to leave is completely untrue’ or anything close to those lines.

It’s not a minor claim.

3 days later and I can’t conclusively say either way. That’s bad whichever way anybody wants to slice it.

Once he has made the statement, he doesn’t need to say anything else

As long as the Club make the right changes in the offseason.

The Media will have different stories next week

If his intention was to force the club to get better by making it publically accountable the problem is that it may potentially scare off any recruit thinking about coming to the Dees.

But I still think the main issue started at the injury because he has barely been at the club since.

I've said it here before but if any of Oliver, Petracca or Viney are traded I will cancel my membership. Not so much because they left but because of what led to it.

This is such [censored] amateur hour. 1965. 1980s. 90s. 2000s. 2020s. Not even a flag can save us from being just the same old Melbourne.

Totally feel this post. Its like you would think the organisation and effort to win a flag and a minor premiership would turn this club into something different, claiming its a big club now and all that. But then it seems five minutes later its back to the old dees.

What if he has been telling the club of issues for a while and nothing has happened?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
