The icing on the cake would be CP5 doing a press conference drinking a bottle of PRIME 🤣🙄

Whatever she did or didn't do, Christian makes it quite clear that it was appreciated! No hint here of him being disappointed by the response!

That may be so but it isn't why there was dismay on here yesterday and in talk back shows etc. The dismay, rightly or wrongly the angst was the lack of communication and support for the family at that time.

One can't rely on media reports but it was reported that his family was disappointed and somewhat angry at that lack of communication from the club.

That's what is pissing me off.  A clear statement by Trac is TOTALLY ignored in favour of pundits and sadly,  many on here measuring every word  she said on the radio as negatively as possible.  Sure, she could use some media training, but....

QBD - what have been our issues specifically in the past three years please?

I think we lacked discipline late last year: Kossi then Roos' high bumps and even though they are young, it was disappointing.

Has our fitness programme been poor?

Your thoughts please?

Melbourne’s been a CF for 3 years because we've perfected the art of self-sabotage. It’s like we’re running a masterclass on how to take a premiership window, throw in a cocktail of egos, injuries, and baffling decisions, and turn it into a dumpster fire that somehow keeps finding new fuel. If there were a trophy for blowing golden opportunities, we’d be three-peat champions by now.

I wonder if, when last year Melksham did his acl and was to be sidelined for 12 months he got many calls from Kate?

An ACL isn't in the same ball park as a level 5 spleen injury (when there is no level 6) and they have have a medical procedure resulting in ICU and isolation for an extended time.

Maxy needs to give Kate roffey some media training.

there's no BS with Max. Honest and authentic. 100% believable.

I feel reassured after this (as compared to how i felt after Kate's interview yesterday). No way the playing group have an issue with trac as long as Maxy is captain. I'm sure Trac will be able to re-integrate.

It was a very good interview. Pity, nobody in the media circus will pick this up and instead focus on all the speculation or negativity.

At some point the AFL will send out the memo to the media outlets to STFU about all this stuff as it is detracting from finals.

Agree. Max was outstanding and always is.

He takes ownership and is genuine. He makes you believe that he will do whatever he can to make things better.

"yeah, the support I've received has just been incredible from Roffey..." etc - Christian Petracca, July 1st

I could repeat my post above about support to the family but it is too nice a day outside to sit here and go round in circles.  I'm out.

Yep I reckon you're right. By Monday they'll want the attention on the games ahead. For now this is good enough to keep rugby off the main pages

In the video of the interview, "A sit down with Christian Petracca" posted on the official MFC site on July 1st, at the 2:25 minute mark Christian clearly outlines the support he got from Kate Roffey and the Club and the players post-Op. He also makes it abundantly clear that he was overwhelmed by that response!

That transcript needs to be sent to the media asap!!!!

As a player, I couldn't give a [censored] if the president called me post injury. I'd be more expecting players and coaches to check in. The president may delegate, but I'm not sure I would personally expect it nor throw my toys out of the cot. I call BS everywhere.

Glad to see that this [censored] ruined the night for Max when getting his seventh AA.

Take your point LH. I am worried about whether Kate has or hasn't done enough but am reassured by those comments from Trac 2 months ago...BUT her about her inablility to convince me she has/is doing enough is a major worry.

That's the message we needed in the media to protect the brand of MFC. She didn't/couldn't do that which poured petrol on the fire.

I think there still interested:

Interesting to me is that Phil Davis on SEN yesterday, and Nathan Burke on ABC this morning both said the same thing: 'stick it out Trac and fix the things you think aren't working'. People who have played the game - also Ryan O'Keefe this week - say stick around and work through the issues, whereas the journalists just try to hype the yarn with different tweaks daily.

As Nathan Burke said, most of what's being reported will prove to be wrong or inaccurate.

Burke was also terrific when he said Trac OWES Melbourne because Melbourne had given him opportunities and had made him a premiership player. It was a terrific exchange with Raf Epstein. Pity there's not more on air like him.

my concern with him waiting is he will wait until Carlton is out of finals and then nominate them  just so there is no distraction to them next week :( I hope not

I’m honestly furious at everyone involved, that this man who just got his 7th AA jacket has to once again talk about the drama that follows this club and the selfish people making it worse.
This night should have been all about the greatness of Gawn. Instead it’s about someone else, their brand and their issues.

They’ll come hard for him when they’re out of finals (which won’t be long)

But no way they can get him without offering McKay or TDK up at a minimum, so depends how big of a swing they’re willing to take

I have a feeling Max will follow Big Jim and be president of the MFC one day. He is jovial but has commen sense is a great leader and knows how to play the media.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
