Can anyone enlighten me please.

i do not have access to sports shows or AFL 360 or this type.

this topic is going bananas in this thread, but is it getting any airtime on any other platforms.  Or is it a figment of imagination.

Garry Lyon was asked on OTC if he was alarmed by the rumour (which is all it is).  He very firmly said he wasn't and won't be until he looks Christian in the eye and hears it directly from him.

We can all take a leaf out of Garry's book.

Morris is just a repugnant, self promoting slime🤮.

Trac unhappy with the "direction of the club" that has gone from top 4 to bottom 6. No 5hit Sherlock! Join the queue.

I must say I don't quite get the attractive brand of footy complaints. We maximised the output from the strengths our playing list had and won a flag and almost another. I'll take winning ugly everyday. This year we're trying to evolve but with mixed results. I was leaning toward pessimism at the beginning of this year no doubt about that but I actually think the next 2 years could prove fruitful. Again it all comes down to this preseason which is what makes it so intriguing for me. I remain a little concerned about the noise and do wonder at times if we have the absolute best people in the right places. That's just my vibe though, based on absolutely no hard facts. One thing I do know is if you're getting your "facts" from the pissants on Footy Classified you may as well burn your membership now.

I don’t think any Swans fans look back on 2005 and wish they had played a more attacking style. They won the GF 58-54 and it was one of the most enjoyable grand finals to watch.

On OTC last night Lyon said Oliver's hand is a mess.  He is being played because it is good for him or words to that effect.  He has said similar in past episodes.

It might be in Oliver's best interests but is that in the best interests of the team, of a winning culture, of the club?

This isn't directly related to Christian but I can understand if players are frustrated by Oliver's selection.  And I also wonder how good it is for Oliver given the bashing he gets in the media.

Before people jump on Garry, he is close to the club and Oliver and there is no reason to think he would misrepresent something so important.

Funnily enough he has a segment on SEN with Morris regularly

I think in the case of Oliver, he won’t be playing in 2 weeks time anyway, so what’s the difference. He should be sent off to surgery immediately.

Do we know he was in isolation? That would be unusual... (I know a bit about splenectomies)

but he didn't have a splenectomy.  badly lacerated spleen

Interestingly he said similar things about Jackson… and we know how that ended

We were 3rd for scoring in 2021, 6th in 2022, 7th in 2023, and 14th in 2024. When we won the flag it definitely wasn't ugly. You need to be able to score/have multiple ways of winning games, which we havent for the past 3 years.

If his selection is gratuitous as Lyon implied maybe he should have been sent in for surgery some time ago.

It can't be good for Clarrie's mental health with the bashing he gets in the media nor his physical health if is the hand is a mess.

My point  was more related to the impact on players if Oliver's selection isn't the best for the team albeit in Oliver's best interests.

Regardless of what happens with Trac i think it's clear the club needs a full cultural re-set and a significant review conducted externally of the FD, if we are chasing Houston and going all in on another flag we need to make sure we're getting it right.

I agree with this. Just making the point that the season is almost done so no point trying to nurse him through the last 2 weeks. Based on form Laurie or Kynan Brown should be in the side over Clarry and that frustrates me the most as a supporter.

Dear God, I hope it doesn't end the same way.  fwiw, I don't think it will.

My concern is the impact this has on other players and the media feast fest re their self-serving narrative of the club's culture.

The Jackson one was different though because he was OOC and also from WA.

It is possible to be a passionate supporter of a club or person 'thru thick and thin', and be concerned about their behaviour/decisions.   And it is ok to voice that respectfully and considerately.  Appropriately voicing any concerns is not being disloyal or 'picking and choosing'; it means you care.

Not sure our attack was the problem in 2022 or 2023 given the players available (with the obvious exception of poor accuracy in the two 2023 finals)

We have gone backwards this year primarily because we lost Smith , Melk and BB can’t get on the park - add to this a weakened midfield for all the reasons we already know and there is the reason 2024 scoring has dried up

As sad as it is, if worst came to worst and the club had to make a choice between Oliver and Petracca, it's not a difficult decision in my opinion, as heartbreaking as it would be.

Which one for you?

I'd keep Trac.

Can't be consumed by these kind of topics, it's not good for your health 🤣. It's a 'will believe it when I see it' type scenario.

Next year he'll either be 'was a champion' or 'still a champion' for the MFC, it's as simple as that.

Dont buy it, JVR and Kozzy coming into their prime, Fritsch still in his while playing all the games this year and missing over a month of footy last year out weighs the loss of Smith and two guys at the end in Melksham and Brown (who lets be honest wouldnt have been here if not for his contract)

Ill give you the midfield but Oliver (off field issues) and Viney (age) having a down year was always on the cards.

Has there actually been any solid info connecting petracca's concerns directly to Clayton Oliver?

Smith, Melksham and Brown aren't making us offensive gods.

Our forward woes have been structural and gameplan for a while. We could bring in the best key forward and it wouldn't make a difference.

Take a look at Carlton. Two key forwards and can barely score themselves. Voss and Goodwin don't coach all that differently. Give either list to Longmire or Scott (either of them) and they're probably the highest scoring team in the league.

Yes, it is something to wonder about, but as usual we dont' really know.  Maybe the bashing in the media means nothing to him compared to getting out there and playing, however badly.    Whether it is worth it for the club overall is another matter which presumably has been considered.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
