I think it doesn’t come down to the thought that a change will fix the issues, it’s more so the fact that what we have is simply not working, and they need change to occur to see if it might fix. Continuing on this path is worse than taking a risk, which may or not pan out.

It's time to thank Goodwin and move on.

Scary.. isn’t it. Going to be a hard road for the board to figure out things to get back to 2021 standards, on and off field. They also shouldn’t settle for that and need to push to be one of the big clubs. Unlikely to happen, but settling for mediocrity is not good enough.

The HUN reporting that this is just the scheduled monthly board meeting, and Goodwin was scheduled to present.

The reason why I wouldn’t want Longmire, Buckley or even Simpson is because I am not overly confident in thier ability to reinvent and would just stick to what they know which can be dangerous in an ever evolving era of footy.

They were great coaches in their own rights, but I feel like high calibre assistants like Jaymie Graham or a Caracalla would come into the club with no prior coaching experience or prejudice and get a free shot at it like what we saw with Kingsley and McRae. It would also appease the fans in the sense of having a direct path and vision going forward. Currently under Goodwin, we have no clear identity, so what is there to lose?

A fresh restart with a rookie like Graham who is part of the Fremantle resurgence and West Coast premiership forward coach may be the way to go. Wouldn’t be against looking at someone like Cameron Bruce who was handpicked by Fagan to be the man to revitalize their midfield when he was let go by Carlton.

And who says the three others need to be near the ruckman for the bounce. They could have been anywhere in the square. Mindboggling incompetence all round.

I should think a reasonable and logical approach by Melbourne that respects where all parties come to this point ,their responsibilities and their histories; would be a negotiated exit for Simon.

Allow him his 'story' , his pride intact and the opportunity to drive the end narrative. Allow him an honourable egress. He deserves that. But we deserve better than our current situation.

The choice for Simon ought to be

1) Go now ( end of season) but announce now so we can get on with things. Negotiated settlement.

2) Stay and your life will be merry hell. Under the pump by club and media ( no fun for anyone) ..and further impact your legacy.

I guess that explains why Goody was just standing there, motionless, hands in pockets during that last 30sec meltdown. He was already strategising in his head what spin he was going to deliver during this scheduled board meeting. I'm sure he'll convince the board we're on the right track with the first 3qtr display.

Stay away from the tried coaches. New blood for the new game. Someone like a Sam Mitchell. The Geelong alumni like Corey Enright/Steven King are great starts.

Modern coaches for the modern game is the way forward.

Damien Hardwick is a different case study because he knew it was time to leave Richmond and knew what he was walking into with that list at GC.

We aren’t in the position to hand over a list that is on the cusp of success anymore so to get a coach like Longmire, Buckley, Simpson or Hinkley would be the wrong move in my opinion.

But for kids a loss like this would be soul destroying. If I saw just one kid in tears after that last night it would have been heart shattering.

The issue: Extremely unlikely to leave Sydney, but if he did, he'd be the perfect cultural reset.

Was hoping to wake up to the news of Goodwins sacking but then realised we haven’t got a CEO or president to do the job.

If Goodwin survives this utter humiliation, it proves that he is unsackable.

Maybe only a coordinated fan boycott would bring the board to its senses.

I can see Richardson being the scapegoat here, meanwhile things will be as they always are, nothing will change, we will win a few then lose a few and the cycle continues.
