Ahhhh right let's control alternative thoughts and only allow one supportive opinion

I will vote for that

If the club was properly managed this thread would not exist nor need to

Yes, this thread and others that are perceived as "negative" are a symptom of the many flaws and failures underlying within the club at the moment.

Not just the coach but even up in the leadership group of the club.

How much I'd love that we had instead the "Goodwin chasing Norm Smith" thread, but the reality is in deed hitting us hard in the face.

I'd wager that at the very least most of these cynical and negative supporters here (you can include me) still bleed red and blue. They want the club's success and nothing else, and keep paying their hard earned YOY which, to me, is the biggest commitment of all.

For starters, how disrespectful he is to call those teams easybeats, or any team for that matter. Very unprofessional

That’s the quality of Ralph’s journalistic integrity

Why do you feel need to “appeal to certain posters”?

I love this thread. 175 Pages of endless variety: Goody is hopeless, he's got to go, he's got to go, Goody is hopeless, Goody is hopeless, he's got to go.....

It's so positive and uplifting! Real true supporters!

Being a true supporter includes making objective judgements about the performance of the coaches & the football department NOT endlessly clapping and cheering.

This Club is not North Korea & Goodie is not the Dear Leader.

FFS can you and other people quoting my post please read it first?? The main point was about the mindless repetition of the same thing! Which continues in the replies to what I said!

So why read any of it ?? 🤔

What you fail to understand is that “true” supporters also like to look for positives & hope. That does not mean we don’t get bitterly disappointed when we lose or we don’t question the coaches but you seem to think your analysis of a “true” supporter means you must show negativity and blame. Goody will be coach next season and who knows how many pages this embarrassing thread will be up to by seasons end ..guess it just makes you feel better and “cranky”.

You like losing ?

I don't

You can’t win hey BZB

Even when you say you hate losing certain people still vomit at your answer.

I Hate losing too, it sucks, particularly when 4 years ago, we were the number 1 Team in the Country, by a fair margin.

Such a shame we couldn’t trade in some A Grade Talent after ‘21. I am still wondering why that didn’t happen….

Do you think this years performance is acceptable DS?

You are quite happy to let things roll on into Season 26?

According to all the critics, we didnt need to trade in A grade talent because our list, which Goody obviously destroyed, was so absolutely wonderful. At least, that's the theme. Brisbane, WB, Geelong, and GWS supporters might have had the heretical view that their lists were as good as, or even better, than ours.

Of course, it is possible that the list was very good but not perfect and that Goody did a great job in winning a premiership.

But why were we not able to attract A Grade Talent? List Management and Free Agency is critical every off season….

we certainly let some very good players go, and they were replaced by Casey Regulars (Grundy aside, that’s a different discussion) 4 Years on and we have won 6 of 28 games.

We cannot go into next year with the same Template

Ditto here, I was hoping in 2022 we would get McKay. At the time it felt like the last piece of the dynasty puzzle was a true KPF. Just like Richmond did with Lynch in 2018.

I will never know if the club even approached McKay, I want to believe they did.

Put it simply, everything worked out for Simon in 2021. Once things around him were not perfect (be it injuries, players down in form, losing assistants) he just couldn't deliver.

In all seriousness…in footy and even in life ..you plan …you train and it all looks pretty good. Then comes the intangibles which you can’t control …key injuries at the wrong time ..players just simply out of form …& to quote Goody simply trying to meld the old & young with a new game plan. I’m totally disappointed with the season because I reckon if one of Trac or Clarry had played to their potential & if one of May or Lever didn’t get injured ,.I firmly believe that would have been enough to make the 8 but I had no illusions that we would go deep, I have seen enough of our game plan to see an exciting 2026 going forward. What is irrefutable is that Goody has the players back & they have Goody’s back. Put me in the “hand clapping majority”.. I don’t really care. I truly believe Goody will be coach next year.

Announcements aren’t always made immediately after contracts have been signed. Timing is considered.

McVee hasn't resigned, midweek tackle just said so

I think many are confusing or conflating two issues.

Will Goody coach next year ??

Should Goody coach next year ??

Yes he will

No he shouldn't

Thats the actual point.

And if he is .. I'll find a great deal of pleasure in other interests and pastimes.

Much time saved not worrying about Dland.

Not a fan of season re-runs.

The happy clappers may rejoice...

The off season might prove curious.

Wish my knees were up to skiing.

But it does my head in that the usual “Top Clubs” are always up there, regardless of the speed humps. They dip for a maximum 1 year and then Climb straight back up. But not the MFC…

Guys are getting paid around $ 1Mill a year inside this Club (Certain Coaches and Players) so i expect a far better output

So many other Clubs just get on with it….

One point, we are not in crisis yet, 4/5 wins to finish and we will appear like a team on the way up.

Counterpoint

4/5 losses and we appear like a team whose time's up.

Doesn’t mean so much when the pressure is off. We can’t make September

I prefer winning to losing games, but these last 7 games must be given the correct context.

Yeah I don't want him as coach, never really have.

Do I think he should after the last two years, no.

Will he be, yep and I will hope against all hope he gets it right and we play well.

I just do not see it happening.

Wasn't playing finals the line in the sand ?

And it wasn't us per se who drew that line.

Talks the talk, trips over his own feet.

Good old Ghosty. Endless love & praise for Goody, Roffey & Perty.

Everything is great, nothing to see here as the Team slowly sinks to the bottom & becomes a laughing stock.

Reminds me of the Fitzroy die-hards in their last season.

Exactly right, which is why she is on ignore, coz everything is hunky dory and I spoke to this player, this coach, this random, sheeeit give me a break! The place is in Nosedive, and the longer we accept the mediocrity, the longer the way out becomes!

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
