Dees will be picking best Defender and a Midfielder…

Pick 5 Alix Tearu

Pick 9 Murphy Reid/Bo Allan

If Jagga Smith slides to Pick 5 we will be taking him. Then best defender at Pick 9.

Yeah, I don’t give much credence to this by The WA.

Marc McGowan from the Age has updated his phantom draft and has Melbourne taking Langford and Allan.

Marc also backing up @BLWNBA Intel around Harry Armstrong interviewing poorly with clubs.

Good get mate 👏

My biggest takeaway from Marc (the age) is that there seems to be more momentum building on Adelaide going Draper over Langford, he said it would be a surprise if it went the other way. He also is under the impression Allan won’t get past our second pick which is quite interesting comparing it to Twomey saying Allan and Lindsay is a 50/50.

My gut feel is someone is going to trade for saints pick 8 to take Allan whether that be Freo or Tiges to jump ahead of us which would leave us with Tauru at 9.

Lots of posters getting a bit nervous about the quality of the kids we have been linked with. Got to remember folks they are just kids and will improve in every facet of the game when they come into the system.
JTs selection over the years especially with mids and flankers has been excellent, with 2 top 10 picks in a strong draft I have no doubt he will pick two crackers.
Im just hoping Langford is still on the board at 5. I’d pick him if we had the number one pick( although I’ve come around to Smith a lot more too).

Then if one or more of Tauru, Lindsay or Allen is left we really can’t lose.

Twomey got as taking Lindsey instead of Allen after saying Allen might be taken at 6 by Tigers. Tigers take Allen after our 2nd pick.

Sure. Makes sense.

It's Allan and Lindsay, Curt.

Tigers are looking to trade lower down the draft order to get Allan.

If the Tigers take him at 6 it could throw a spanner in the works.

If we are 50/50 with Allan, we can swap 5 for their 6 and plus one of 18, 23 or 24 all likely to attract nice offers as the draft unfolds.

24 is a very nice pick at the start of round 2 and usually in high demand and attracts a premium.  Probably an extra premium this year with the likelihood of a few sliders.

It's looking likely that there will be bids for Ashcroft and Lombard within the first ten picks, which means that we will drop to pick eleven and won't know who our second selection is until tomorrow night.

Tonight is for the first round which will end in the high 20's.

Thanks Luci.  My bad, I thought tonight was just the top ten.  Carry on!

Look, if JT doesn't pick who I want as my preference, I'll be demanding that he gets tied up at the front of AFL headquarters and burns at the stake.

It's as simple as that really.

Fair enough Daz, I have read recently that you would be better than most recruiters anyways😂

I’ve tried not to get too hung up on any player this year after really wanting Curtain last year. Still I’m really hoping Langford is on the board for our first pick.

Reckon we get Langford at 5 and Tauru at 9. No idea what happens though if Richmond throws everything off with selecting Smith or O'Sullivan at 1.

I think poor Pickett may have gotten a tad over excited that afternoon.. 😳

In all seriousness, I am one of JT's biggest fan, he's a screwed operator. I just hope we get the desired outcome that our list needs.

Screwed operator? 😀

Is that a cryptic clue? Allen? Phillips? Is there a Driver?

Sorry do you mean they are looking to move one of their later picks down so they can move 10/11 up ahead of us to get Allan? Like for example they trade 10/11 & 20/23/24 to Saints for 8 & 32?

Feels like a win for both teams as Tiges get their guy with Allan and still maintain 8 picks inside the first 2 rounds, Saints will still get their guy might’ve been picking anyway in Lindsay or Berry and move up to put themselves in the range to grab a mid like Hynes or a tall like Trainor who is similar to Tauru.

Only 11 more hours of this confusion for me.

A few years ago on day 2 of the draft I was desperate for Rivers, as I really liked him.

Tonight I haven’t got a clue and like all of us, just want the best boys at our picks, whoever they are.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
