Feeling tad bit of relief knowing Reid and Armstrong look to be out of our sites (hopefully!)

I think both have a good chance, with development to be great players in the future. But as Taylor keeps preaching you go best available and neither of these two players look like top 10 picks.

Even if cal is wrong we still get whoever if left of Draper and smith so no bad outcome

What would be the reasons he can’t play predominately as a midfielder?

He received Brownlow and coaches votes this year in games in the midfield.

He has size, pace, power, defensive awareness and can kick.

We need new options in the midfield and he’s the most obvious choice for mine.

Yeah the signs are there for sure, but I guess my point is that it's still touch and go. I'm definitely optimistic but I think we're a bit quick to assume he's part of our next premiership midfield when he's only played a short amount of time there.

I'd prefer Lindsay over Bo

I do acknowledge Allan's ceiling with his rare athletic profile however

Agreed.  It’s a tough call as Lindsay’s elite disposal would be a nice addition to our squad.    Allan is a tough contested athletic footballer who especially impressed so much in later stage of the year.

Every expert has said we’re not keen on Draper, and Smith is likely to be gone.

I am a bit confused. In Cal's scenario where its unlikely North trade the pick and go with a mid.

He mentions there's a chance if it rolls this way an alternative is Crom pick Langford instead of Draper. Wouldn't that mean in his draft scenario that Draper would be on the board for us to pick?

I'm probably reading too much into this but I thought a simple 'if the crows pick Langford then Melbourne would look at taking Draper'. Instead, he says Tauru would be our next option. I know he does go on to say in the unlikely event one of the top four mids slid we would take one, so maybe he's covering this there. But still.

Interesting...

Edit: Just saw Dee Boys post above. Didn't realise multiple sources are saying we're not into Draper.

Still hoping its maybe some smoke and mirrors!

Who do you propose takes Rivers spot when he becomes a permanent mid? Time to start trusting the people who do this for a living

Looks like we're really into Tauru if North doesn't pick him.

Park me waste our first pick on a back flanker, shocking just shocking! MIDS AND MORE MIDS FFS

I seriously am! DEADLY SERIOUS! I"ll go further and say DAZZLE DAVEY 36 would absolutely wipe the floor with most recruiters in AFL!

It aint rocket science, I personally knew 1 AFL recruiter with modest football experience and boy oh boy what an absolute parkwit he was he had NO IDEA! Seriously what specific skills do you think are required to be an AFL recruiter???

Yes agree, you could definitely simulate him.

I’m not sure I see it with Lindsay, hence why I’m keener on Allan. I acknowledge Lindsay’s disposal is great, but Allan’s build and athleticism, and leadership skills, make him more alluring to me. Realistically, so long as we take a mid with pick 5, im not overly fussed with what we do with pick 9, certainly won’t kick up a stink if Lindsay joins.

I’ve been a Langford fan for most of the year but now I just have a strange feeling that drafting a slow player with a top 6 pick in 2024 just isn’t all that sensible. Probably just anxiety. He ticks so many boxes but speed isn’t one of them.

As for Allan, are we sure we aren’t drafting tagger with a top 11 pick…hmmm. He’s an absolute specimen so why doesn’t he get his hands on the ball or do as much as he should with it?

Pendlebury aint lightening!

Would be super happy with Langford & Allan, if we somehow landed Langford & Tauru (might need someone to trade up for Allan at 8 or saints take another mid like Lindsay) we will have won the draft by a landslide IMO.

Doomsday scenario for me would be if Adelaide take Langford meaning we would take Tauru and then Tiges play funny buggers and take Allan with 6 betting on Smilie making it to 10 (we aren’t going to touch him) would result in us likely ending up with Lindsay who I don’t love because I don’t think he has the capacity to be in an inside mid meaning we leave the draft without a future inside mid. Langford & Lindsay is he fine with because that’s a nice inside/outside balance.

Picket I really like your work and you often make me laugh.  But I reckon you've lost the plot 🤯 😉 (no offence to @dazzledavey36)

Time for an evening 🍷 perhaps 🙃

Sam Mitchell didn't finish the 20m sprint until the next day, but he did allright.

We picked up pace last year with Windsor. No issues if Langford is our first selection.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
