I have been posting on this site for 20+ years, and this place has never been more toxic.

Embarrassing to see this level of drivel, chest beating and pointless point scoring.

The culture at our club may not be great, but it's probably better than the culture that's creeped into this place from the same usual suspects, who think they have the right to belittle others and repeat the same rubbish over and over and over again.

The moderators do their best, but I think everyone here is an adult (or should be) and therefore should take responsibility for their own behaviours. Hiding behind a screen, does not give you the right to be a gigantic asshat.

100%.

I've been posting on this site a few decades too, and it's become very toxic the past year or so. Sadly I've had to reduce time spent reading and posting unless it's on a specific question or topic.

Hopefully 2025 is a better year for the club and our great draft hand provides us all with some hope and excitement.

I don't slag off at everything, I've applauded the club over recent years and backed Goodwin to the hilt during 2020 when many wanted him gone. I did waver briefly in that 2020 offseason but took a "wait and see" attitude to 2021 which worked out well. I've often had "discussions" on here with others (won't name them) who were ready to blow the place up because success didn't come along quick enough based on how the process was playing out and could see we were on the right track despite those results not coming quick enough. I've also said many times on here that this administration/coaches have the runs on the board and deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt. Well to me, those doubts are now becoming reality and the ongoing leaks and issues out of the club mean those in charge need to be held to account. Things can keep on keeping on as they are but success won't happen if that's the way we want to let things play out. When the "cultural issues" (can't say more due to DL policy) are so prevalent, when the performance dips, when key players want out of the club, when the club is consistently leaking to the media - questions need to be asked about the current administration and leadership.

It's laughable to say I'm the kind of supporter who is negative for negatives sake, I've been posting here for probably close to 15 years (🤯) I was very negative during the Neeld/Schwab years, was far more positive during the Roos/Jackson/Goodwin years and even up until late last year. What has happened over the last 18 months (not just onfield results) is alarming for those who want and expect the club to have good solid governance and leadership that will lay a foundation for sustained success.

Let's just suppose that is correct. Then why are you dragging up an incident from mid-2022, purely between two players, one of whom doesn't go very well with alcohol. What has that got to do with the culture of the club? Why are you repeating rumours about Goody which are totally unsupported, which he flatly denies, and which are highly defamatory? Why are you saying that Clarry wanted to leave when he has made it completely clear that the only thing that got him even thinking of leaving were the (unsubstantiated) reports that the club was open to trading him?

No, you've lost me.

I'm saying the culture is not as great as the club wants to think it is. To be honest I don't really care about those other clubs but yes, the culture of Collingwood in 2017 was a disaster too. Who was CEO there at the time?

Keep your head in the sand Katrina, the club loves supporters like you who forgive every indiscretion of the club and every poor administrator we've had, supporters who clap the team off when 10 goals down at half time. I want to see a successful MFC, that doesn't happen when you sweep massive issues under the rug and don't hold those in charge to account.

So boring. So so boring

Gee. Is it footy season yet?

It only finished a few weeks ago ya crazy clown.

Look forward and learn from the past. So both sides of the argument can be right

But to wallow in the past isn't a practical solution.  Nor is not acknowledging that we can do things better

A lot can change in a few weeks in a footy club. With Petracca & Oliver back on board, suddenly the goal of finals is on the radar and quite achievable

Especially with the acquisition of 2 gun draftees

I know, I know, and look at what's going on on Demonland. We need it back so we can talk drivel about football rather than media created hyperbole and "club culture". It's boring already.

Yep me too.

Spent quite a bit of time off here this year, been on more lately because of trade period but it hasn't been the most pleasant place.

Early in the year I'd replaced a lot of my time on here with regular book reading but the last one I was on got boring so that's probably another reason I'm on more lately.

“Toxic” is such an overused word that really has no substance. It gets thrown around way too often. The club has faced relentless scrutiny from the media of late; the future of our biggest stars has been questioned, the President (who we hadn’t heard from in months) spoke to the media and resigned shortly after. The list goes on. People join and post on here because they’re (predominantly) diehard fans. When things aren’t going well (and even when the club is kicking goals), people come on here to vent, give their opinion, read other posters opinions and provide a comment. There’s naturally going to be butting of heads. If you can’t handle your opinions or comments being questioned, disagreed with or challenged, perhaps an online forum full of passionate fans just isn’t for you.

Footy clubs can change either way, very quickly.  I really only care about talent levels and winning

So we've got plenty of talent ... just need a reasonable run with injuries

It's the"fans" bit that bothers me. There are a number of posters who do nothing but criticise. That's hardly being a fan.

BTW, a poster on this site recently revealed that during the period where Petracca was in the news and Kate Roffey was silent, she was actually in hospital with COVID. So perhaps we can all back off that particular bit of criticism.

Fans can be disgruntled and criticise, who cares. Well, if a poster on here claimed Roffey was in hospital for the period that the Petracca saga was going on, then I’ll have to believe that (or not, because it’s rubbish).

It's never what you say, but how you say it.

Differing of opinions is healthy, natural and completely fine. As is venting.

But it says more about you, if you feel the need to constantly attack, belittle and railroad the opinions of others (not you personally), than it does about those who feel fed up with it.

This idea that you are a better fan because you unquestioningly support the board or admin or the culture of the club is rubbish and it's tedious.

Sorry, I thought it was true, but if you say it is rubbish I will accept your reasoned and  evidence-supported response.

We all, Ethan,in our own way wish desperately for the club to be successfull and thrive

All comments are relevant even if many disagree with content

Free flowing discussion,in my experience, even if heated, leads always to better outcomes

‘All comments are relevant’ - no they’re not.

Also, dismissing people (posters) outright is not ‘free-flowing discussion’.

While I agree with Ethan’s post and its sentiments - it is used by the mean spirited and malevolent to waive away pointlessly mean and cruel posts.

Thats the very small percentage of posts that has made this place so abhorrent of late.

Seem to have heard the Covid excuse before. Chris try another illness please !

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
