I've heard MFC's interest has simmered due to his tribunal cultural issues

Yes MFC should come out and say this behaviour doesn’t sit well with “our culture” 😀

I know all of the arguments, I just don't agree that torso bumps that result in an unforeseen concussion should be penalised.

I accept I hold a minority view.

I know what you mean but the boundaries have shifted.
It’s the same as saying about a sling, tackle, ”I didn’t tackle him high. He hit his head on the ground.”

These days that sort of contact causing a concussion just cannot be classified as unforeseen.

Straight to the tribunal, but it has been deemed as careless rather than intentional.

The horse has probably bolted on this one, but what an addition he could've been to our club.

60 meter spear passes from half back, or threading the needle with inside 50 targets. Exactly the attributes we're crying out for.

I don't think the horse has bolted but could be wrong.

Funny, when Melbourne where the set destination, it was 2 first round picks based on Cal's Gettable podcast. Now that we are out of the picture and the Blues maybe a destination, its just 1 first round pick @ 12.

I wouldn't completely rule this out yet.

Bit of water to flow under the bridge before trade period.

Well they do want all good players to play only for the Pies Blues Cats Dogs or Bombers

Port going with the good guy defence for Houston.

I’ve seen the clip a couple times and it just looks like a really good hard bump with no head high contact (there might have been but I can’t see any).

Yeah I can’t make up my mind on the incident. I like Houston, just saw he copped 5 weeks.

Yeah I’m the same. A concussed player and ‘duty of care’ guarantees he’s gone even though it’s just looks to be a well executed hard bump.

Oh wow, I thought they would have given him 4 so there’s a chance he could make the Granny. Maybe that will be the case after the appeal.

5 weeks. jesus

I really don’t think there was malice in what he did

5 weeks is pretty standard for that type of action. There was no need to bump, he chose to and the player was knocked out.

5 weeks for Houston.

0 weeks for Maynard.

I see what they did there.

Ahhhh it was graded as high contact so looks like he did make contact with the head.

pretty standard? not many 5 week outcomes over the past 20 years

This year is very different to the past 19 before it. Webster got 7 or 8 for his bump.

Sam Powell Pepper got 4 earlier in the year and his wasn’t as bad as this one.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
