Loved what I saw from the young kids. Kolt, Windsor and Roo fantastic.

Last quarter without Max was always going to be a battle. Anyone know what’s wrong with him?

He had a sneezing fit and so, deserved a rest. He dominated the ruck duels and the occasional follow-up, but when he drifted upfield or downfield, he frightened the Weagles into desperate patterns.

Enjoyed that, future looks good with our youth, shame JVR missed a couple of easy set shots but all in all a very positive day. Can see the want to take the game on and better ball movement slowly coming together now

Was that the Chandler that most of you guys want to drop?

Incredible!

Chandler was very serviceable. What great ground coverage to advantage.

We are starting to look good again and have our energy and pressure game back.

Great bunch of talented kids and forward line is taking shape and looks better just with Melkys presence.

JVR is the one.

Anything can happen from here , but geez I’d love to have Trac back.

Just to prove I don’t only whinge when we lose :  that insufficient intent given against the WCE player who belted the ball forward was absolutely stupid. He was clearly trying to get it to 2 teammates all on their own 30m away.   Came off his fist slightly off and went 20m and went out. Good grief

Loved our defensive intent and much of our intent around the ball. I felt the eagles ran it through the middle too easily at times, and I noticed that some of the new younger boys like AMW, Kolt, and Turner were sometimes slow to respond from a turnover.

Love these new younger players being given a run. Windsor and Kolt earning their place and repeatedly looking AFL ready.

Kozzie finally holds a speccy, the Roo dominating the air, The Milkshake is back and his class immediately evident.

More than happy with that win.

Would’ve been nice to claw back a bit more percentage but no complaints - we smashed them. It was a game dominated by youth - Rivers and van Rooyen in particular as best players. Despite the disappointing season this list has a lot of upside, and this season isn’t over yet.

Just need a very smart and good recruiting in the offseason, couple of players for our midfield and draft some depth for our fwd line.

Reid is clearly going to be an amazing player, but his attitude and arrogance is pretty poor.

Starting to look like he belongs with Stringer at Essendon or DeGoey at the Filth.

What happened between him and Gawn?

Forwards provided leads 😁😁

Forwards sought out space and overlaps 😁😁

Backs dispersed for clearances 😁😁

Set shot shooters generally increased their run-up delivery distances 😁😁

The wisdom of Demonland persistence to demand youth exposure to the team worked profitably 😁😁

Great outcomes that stunned the Weagles.

He was getting stuck into Kolt and Gawn wasn’t having it.

Needs to actually achieve something before he goes off half cocked at everyone. Very uncool behavior from a first year player.

That’s the kind of act the AFL should be doing everything in its power to encourage. Creative and chaotic. An Eagles player could have run onto that and kicked goal of the year and everyone would be lauding Liam Ryan for his creativity.

Umpires don’t need to be forcing players to be robotic. Nobody wins then.

Koltyn has great energy and really needs to stay in the side, he was terrific today.

Probably he can walk the talk  and don't argue with the critics.

He may mature and get a lot better don't you think?

Eagle chicks are ugly, scrawny, lice-ridden, snotty, greasey, windblown and smelly. Even they grow up to be very close to perfection. We still have a way to go; it just happens that we are closer to that eventual point than the WCE...

Of course he may mature and get better, but he has coaches and teammates who should tell him to stay humble and focused.
If he was a Melbourne player our fans would be picking on his attitude, as would the media.

There’s no doubt he’s a very talented player, but football is a team game and when your team is getting pantsed, you need to put your head down and do the work. Not go around arguing with umpires and picking fights.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
