Worth trying to get Kidean Coleman out of Brisbane? Someone on here mentioned he now has family members in Melbourne. Can’t catch a break with his body but when he’s up and running he’s a great player, suits the modern game and has assets we lack. Maybe a fresh start would do him good, seems Brisbane have players overtaking his role too. We’re not bringing in any A graders any time soon so time to think outside the box

I think if Brandon Starcevich does end up leaving Brisbane, than Coleman will be going nowhere considering their stocks in that position and the age of Dayne Zorko. Would be worth an enquiry to see what it would take, but with his injury history anything more than a second round pick would be a huge overpay.

I rate him as the best kick in the league, would love to have Him on our list

Macintosh Tigers and Treloar Dogs are freebies, massive upgrades on any of our Casey battlers.

That's an absolute insane amount to pay for Ryan.

Absolutely wild. I know a million isn't the top-one-percent marker it once was, but it's still a huge amount. More than five percent of the total salary limit on a single medium forward who averages 1.3 goals a game! What?

I think Hawthorn Ruckman Ned Reeves would be worth taking a look at. At 26, he still has plenty of time left in him and is dominating at VFL level ("off the charts form" according to a HS article today). He's a good stopgap who could assist Gawn for a few more years while allowing Kalani to develop nicely in the VFL. We could potentially offer a 3rd round pick for him, as he has barely played since Meek came to Hawthorn.

Kiddy Coleman is made of glass, cannot get fit. Same as Treloar. McIntosh is the sub most games at richmond at shouldn't be near a best 22 next year.

Tis the Ross way. Bankrupt the club trying to pinch a flag, and then leave when it goes pear shaped.

Flags are hard to win. Less than 6% of teams win one each year. I think it’s his job to use every available resource at his disposal to try and ‘pinch one’.

Sadly there isn’t a risk-free strategy to win a flag, increasingly so for the smaller clubs.

Exactly.

Earlier in this thread when he was initially raised, I wasn't even against us having a crack at him. I think he could actually add an improved dimension to our forward line. But for that price? Nah.

Reminds me a bit of Brad Hill many years ago.

A smooth-moving, skilful winger? Yes please. For HOW much? No thanks.

I have been wondering for weeks what it would take to entice Zane Duursma out of North. Is reportedly disgruntled with the club, as he is held back in the pecking order. Is a forward who can kick goals and can spend time in the midfield. He played 2 games for Casey in his draft year and still has vast amounts of potential to be a star.

It would probably take Lever and maybe Fullarton thrown in, who would probably get a game for them.

Is Duursma worth that much? He can barely get a game and when he has he's not done much. The fact that he was a high draft pick doesn't mean much once exposed AFL form comes into it.

Apparently is unhappy at North under Clarkson, so that may be affecting his form, or he could even be playing to get traded.

Remember that really small window of time when some desirable players (Lever, Langdon, May) wanted to come to Melbourne?

That was a nice time.

Surprisingly no KPF wanted to come. 😅

Has he ever had good form in the AFL? It's possible he's just not up to it. Maybe a change of scenery would help but I don't think he'd be worth much on the trade table at the moment. I'd take a punt on him but certainly wouldn't want to overpay.

Saw a little of him in the Casey game. He was monstering Campbell in the quarter I watched

You must forget all the outrage here about how they were no good and we paid too much them... 🤣

And gems like this piece...

Dual premiership Kangaroo David King, in particular, remains flabbergasted as to why Melbourne has apportioned such a large percentage of their salary cap to defenders May and Lever when other clubs – and even other teams in other sports – would usually pay big bucks for stars that impact the scoreboard.

“If you’re going to spend the bulk of your salary cap behind centre – so in the back-half – no other team does that in their competition and no other team in any code does that around the world,” King told Fox Footy’s The First Crack. “You spend money on strikers, guys that can hit the scoreboard, full-forwards, centre half-forwards or gun midfielders.

“They’ve gone May and Lever as part of their big spend, who are very good players, but what influence can they really have on winning games of football?”

Fair to say there’s a reason king is talking head in the media - he really doesn’t follow the game

...and here's me thinking clubs would be lining up with their check books to sign him up as coach.

It's got to be a selling point having all the answers

We should know a bit about him as he trained with us and played some games with Casey.

Very highly rated as a kid.

Well worth a look I would think.

They have also offered $25m for Reid and apparently Liam Ryan is being said to be a lock and he will be about $1m a year.

There’s no way Harley is going to the Saints and where has that Ryan figure come from? I haven’t seen any reporting on his price, there’s no way it would be 1M per season, be lucky to be half that

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
