We were linked with Ryan Angwin last year before he signed a two year contract. Hasn't had many opportunities but has played the last 5 games and starting to look comfortable at senior level averaging 18.5 disposals.

Plays wing and half back, is tough and a good kick. If he falls out of favour again or wants to return to vic I'd be asking the question. Giants have form of not letting contracted players go however so might be one for next year.

Tigers and Swans in the hunt for Rosas Jnr, Dees not mentioned (via Fox Footy)

Rosas Jnr is the type of player we MUST strongly target. If we are to keep giving Kozzy more midfield time (which we definitely should) then we need a dangerous player in the forward line with speed, and goal sense. No brainer to get him in, stuck behind multiple players at the Suns and is unlucky to be in their side.

Agreed, Suns are stacked for forward half talent and I hope we get to benefit from it

Media will say we are interested in players (not AA quality ones though) but unlikely they will say we are leading the chase. I expect them to basically talk any players likely to want to come to MFC out of it.

Yes, it's all a media PSYOP.

Dan Houston was about to join the Dees until Jon Ralph got in his ear apparently 🤣

Truly you can't believe this?!

Dan Houston backed out because he listened to his manager, not some hack journalist.

What's next? Player buys real estate after consulting Tom Morris?

If so Ralph did us a favour.

Has not performed at recent Port level.

One report was he may be dropped given the number of Pies players to come back.

Dodged a bullet!

"They've discussed him and are weighing up a possible move for him in the trade period."

Author duly noted btw - credibility factor, then, as previously established.

Not only that, it would have cost us the pick we used for Lindsay who's going to be an excellent 200+ gamer for us. What he's doing off the back of an interrupted pre-season in his first year is ridiculous.

Apologies I should have put sarcasm at the end of my post - was just taking the [censored] at those who thinks it’s the media’s fault that few high quality players have joined in recent years

Henry Smith from Brisbane looks quite a good forward/ruck.

Worth a look into when he’s off contract at end 2026.

Even better if we could nab him earlier.

Exactly!!!

Memo to MFC Recruitment.

Do not recruit anymore key forwards under 200cm, we have enough of them and they are no benefit without big bopper.

I think the last few years has actually been good. Langford. Lindsay.

However forward stocks has always been our issue. They seem to think that we don’t need forwards and only get mids.

I think Smith would be brilliant.

Lever is exactly the kind of player we should be moving on and would be fantastic for North.

No way we're going to be moving on one of Goody's favourites though.

Disagree. Lever has captain written all over him. Just had a bad ankle.

From memory at the time Houston's management was the same as Tracc and Clarry so undoubtedly he knew a lot more about what was going on in the Dees in 2024 than we did.

Surprised there isn't more noise around bringing Ryan Maric back to Melbourne. Long term May replacement? Off contract end of 2026.

he gets junk disposals, takes kick ins wraps around for handballs and kicks it long, as soon as they rolled him up to the wing he couldn't find it, McCarthy took his spot for a month and now theyve swapped so mccarthy is higher and maric is just kicking it sideways or 50m contest bombs

Posted in 'The List Manager' thread, but probably more relevant here. Geelong have tabled a four year offer to Worpel, matching the existing Hawthorn offer - as per Jay Clark's reporting.

Has always seemed destined to Geelong. Time to go really hard after Flanders

Assuming reasonable coin that is overs for a meat and potatoes solid mid. I hope people remember things like this when they whine that Geelong and the Pies win all the trades and why dont we.

No. It would be "player wears headband after going to play for Geelong".

Hawks supporters seem to be happy to see him out the door. They have plenty of young inside mids like Hustwaite who can perform the same role. Massive ball butcherer too.

I'm a big fan and a player I'd readily take in the red and blue. Would definitely assist in correcting some deficiencies we have. But I haven't seen us linked with him at all anywhere, apart from a dodgy 'X' post from an unvalidated 'trade' page (and I use that term very loosely).

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
