We certainly need some key position depth with Fullarton, Hore, McDonald and May all likely gone within 1-2yrs.

This doesn’t really inspire me with confidence based on prior year trades. Fullerton anyone? If the kid was any good he’d get a run in the firsts.

players i would like us to go for, not big names, but some depth and potential.

Archie Perkins - Can't get in at Ess, high draft pick. Has looked ok in the games i have seen.

Ollie Lord - I really like him, Fwd ruck, has looked good in the limited games he has got for port and stil developing

Derkson - Dees obviously keen, swingman which is always handy. although we already have a couple of these.

Liam Ryan - This guy is classy, think we could get him cheap. would be a good fwd replacement for kossie to allow him to go Midfield fulltime. is also related to Kossie which will help both settle in the vic life

Is obviously some guns we could target, but these guys i just like for cheaper options that could have impact over the next couple of years and beyond

Don’t mind this approach and no problems with the names mentioned.

IMO the list needs a radical overhaul to hopefully stimulate a rejuvenation.

Swapping some/all of Salem, Lever, Langdon, Sparrow, maybe even Viney.

Test the worth of Rivers, Van Rooyen and maybe even McVee with WCE and Freo, Petty with Adelaide clubs and Fritsch, even Howes and Woewodin might attract some interest.

With the normal delistings of others who haven’t made the grade and are unlikely to do so, those being replaced by young players from the draft, the radical overhaul can be achieved without the need to “bottom out” IMO.

Good post Trav. We need to trade in some players to move out others IMO. By moving out I mean moving down to Casey playing at the fringes and as back up. Spargo and Sparrow are two that come to mind.

Having Culley, Hendo, Johnson, Fullarton at the fringes has made our list weak. It has forced the team into playing the young ones to early such as Kolt.

It's interesting RE Trac. Against the Blues, he almost single handedly played a forward hand and won us that game. Without him playing forward for the rest of the game, we don't stay in it. Then against Collingwood on KB, before he got injured, everything he touched across half forward led to a scoring opportunity. Often we stuffed the chance. When he went off, we had no forward half connector.

Those two games show you how vital he has become for our forward half, that said he's a superstar mid too, so you want to try and get a 60 forward, 40 midfield split I reckon, depending on the opponent and the balance of the game.

I've come around to the idea of trying to hit this top 20 in 2024 really hard. If we could land two midfield young guns (think Port in the 2018 draft), it changes our list profile and sets us up for 5-10 years. Use our 2024 first rounder on a young gun, and dangle our 2025 first rounder (and 2026 @old55?) to see if we can't land another. 

I don't think Tracca fwd is a great move. He is probably the worst kick at goal in the comp.

Trac is brilliant around the arcs. His ball use from stoppage is heinous. His little kick to JVR, which didn't look touched to me, was a perfect example of his cleverness and ability to execute inside 50.

I'm sorry but what you've written is incredibly misleading. Petracca has the ability to do those things, yeh sure. But his execution lands at less than 50%.

I didn’t say trade out ALL OF THEM.

If we can get reasonable trade for a player with his limitations, where the hype has clearly exceeded the reality, why not trade him?

I can see the Bombers using our traded pick with their own, to target Harley Reid.

Let alone playing with the fwd delivery he is getting. Hasn't had the best year no but is only 22 and has kicked 6 in his last 4 games. He isnt even close to his peak yet.

Perkins is a huge no. Total dud ...think all your reservations about Kolt, but after 80 games.

Lord I am not sold on - has had plenty of opportunities and imo Jefferson shows more already.

Ryan I would look at but for very cheap.

We need to start to look beyond the cheap pickups. It's taken us nowhere....billings sharp schache....
